Cornell is "very seriously" considering ending Early Decision program

Interesting........

They definitely shouldn't yet, but maybe eventually. Harvard and Princeton have that ability and will still get the tippity-top of the totem pole, but Cornell is in the middle of the Ivy League battle so I just don't think that they have the liberty to eliminate it and still get as good of a pool of applicants. Eventually I do think that all schools should get rid of it though because it is true that it can be unfair.

I think Cornell has the ability to eliminate early admissions because it only accepts a third of the student body through ED. I think if they made more strategtic decisions in the RD round to somehow differentiate those that really want to be here from those that don't, it would really make up for it. Plus the only school that it would really only affect would be the Arts school. All of the other schools have higher percent yields since they are so specialized.
