Cornell Parent Thread

@blevine —Having recently stayed in Jameson & Cascadilla, I can confirm that some dorms have not changed much in 30 years. While I do not enjoy the shower situation, it is really nice not having to move the car.

Paid about $200/night in Cortland, which is painful after paying about the same on avg for move in, move out, parents weekend at a nicer hotel 10 min from son’s dorm. But last Aug during move in, asked front desk at my favorite hotel (where we were guests) and they offered to put us in the lottery. Never sent us an application for the lottery. I hear $500/night and up is common with 3 night min.

I think my date to cancel is already past.

I really do prefer a hotel, though if I could not get one would have stayed on campus.

Best part of this…son applying to grad school and may stay at Cornell another year.
May do this twice ! At least I’ll know for sure if Cortland was the right decision by then

Remember to book dinner too…

Hello, new to this thread. My D received the Transfer Option for Human Ecology yesterday after being waitlisted. My husband and I think it’s a win-win, and she is just beginning to see some wisdom in having this option.

I have read some about it, but I’d love to hear any details, facts, insider scoop, strong opinions from knowledgeable parents about this route to Cornell. Thanks!

Congratulations!!! I was keeping my fingers crossed for your daughter. If it was my daughter I would think it is win-win situation. One of D2’s friend from high school received such option. She graduated with her class on time. I heard she was very active on campus and made friends easily. Your D should be careful of classes she takes at another college. She will need to meet the minimum GPA requirement and courses she needs to take. You may want to get on the transfer thread.
