Cornell Security Breach Leaves 45,000 at Risk of Identity Theft

I put a temporary fraud alert on my account. I also signed up for that credit monitoring service that Cornell set up through Kroll, but I’m still not sure what the heck it actually does. I can’t even access a credit report through them.

Other than that, I plan to check my credit at least once a year. Maybe I will check more frequently, but that would involve paying for a report. (Does anyone know if it’s possible to stagger credit reports? For example, order your free annual credit report from Experian, four months later order from Trans Union, then order from Equifax.) I really hate having to worry about this in the back of my mind.
