Hey, I want some advice on which of these two schools would be the smartest decision. While I know that these are two of the top business programs in the country and I am extremely grateful to be accepted (with there being such a low acceptance rate), I am sad to say that I have received no aid from either of these schools.
I am a Black/African-American male in New York and my net household income is approximately $120,000, however these schools are still very expensive for me to attend. My financial aid package from NYU consists of $74,000 every year in loans and Cornell stated to me that I didn’t qualify for any financial aid.
Since these schools will cost around the same amount, I’m now trying to figure out which one I should commit to. Cornell’s Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management is a young upcoming business program that’s been ignited through Cornell’s prestigious Ivy League reputation. New York University’s Stern has maintained its reputation as one of the best business programs in the country due to it’s lucrative location in NYC: ability to obtain numerous internships and work experience for connections. Nevertheless, I have been leaning towards Cornell’s Dyson School, because I feel that I would be granted the better undergraduate education there, with such small-sized classes (under 100 people admitted to this program).
One more thing, my parents recently paid approximately $40,000 for my grandmother’s air ambulance to transport her to the United States to cure her brain aneurysms and stroke. Do you think an appeal towards these schools, in which i mention this situation, would help my case as to why I should be granted some financial aid?
Thank you guys for reading, and I am appreciative for any feedback!
