First of all, I know Cornell is way better ranked and such, but I feel that if I went to Stony Brook, I would place much higher than my peers and stand out when it comes to admissions to medical school. At Cornell, I might have a 3.5 gpa/ 35 mcat, but at Stony Brook, I would be close to a 4.0 and have ~30 mcat (just making broad assumptions here). What would look better to med schools, all else being the same? Any advice would be appreciated.

How is the financial situation at both schools? If the financials are similar, Cornell hands down.

a 3.5 at Cornell? hahahah that would be AMAZING a 4.0 at stony brook would not even compete. The level of opportunities you would receive aren’t even on the same level.

^don’t know if the above post is a joke or not… but a 3.5 at cornell is not amazing, its just average. And if you think at Cornell you can get a 3.5 and 35 vs 4.0 30, go with the 35. However, don’t assume that just because you are in Cornell, you’ll do amazing on the MCAT. Personally, I don’t think it helped me prepare for MCAT. I took it end of junior year and by then I don’t remember anything I learned in fresh and sophomore year. The same goes for most people. It’s mainly based on how smart you are and how much work you put into it. If you are smart, you can get that 35+ anywhere. If you can get a 4.0 at Stony and a 35+, vs a 3.5 35 in Cornell, go to Stony.
