Cornell Vet School or Johns Hopkins Med School

Hey guys. I need some help. I can't decide whether to go to Vet School or Med School. Here is the thing though. I have the grades and the credentials to do either or. But, I really love animals and have wanted to be a vet since I was very young. On the contrary, I have always been fascinated with the brain and I wont BS I really want to be a neurosurgeon because of the money. I don't understand why vets and meds go to schools for the same time, same stuff, and vets are criminally underpaid compared to meds. I not sure which.

If you become a neurosurgeon, you can always volunteer at a local shelter and take care of animals that way. You won’t be doing real procedures, of course, but it might be enough to satisfy your love of animals. (A neurosurgeon’s lifestyle might not leave you with a lot of free time to pursue these interests, but it’s theoretically possible.)

If you become a veterinarian, you can still participate in brain research, but that’s very different from being a neurosurgeon for humans.

Have you shadowed some doctors and some veterinarians? That’s the best way to see which profession suits you more. Try a variety of specialties, because it’s a bit early to decide on neurosurgery for sure.

If you love animals, then follow your passion. Do not become a Neurosurgeon just for the money. It is a highly consuming job that takes 16 plus years to train for! Veterinarians make a fine living and train for only 8 years!
