I've been accepted to both schools for a B.A. in Computer Science. Which one is better in terms of reputation and placement at companies like Google, Amazon, etc.

I would say Columbia has better finance connections, not sure about Cornell. Columbia has the NYC advantage so internships would also be easy to find. I don’t know anything about Cornell though :3

Do you mean you just got off the waitlist at one of the schools and now have to pick between the two? You might be looking at it the wrong way, as Columbia and Cornell are two vastly different places, ultra-urban vs rural, Columbia’s Core Curriculum, department rep, etc. Looking down the road to getting into specific companies might be looking too far down the road, you need to be happy for the next four years first.

Both have very good CS departments. US News puts Cornell #6 and Columbia #15 for the CS grad schools, so odds are, you can do well from either undergrad. I’d look to what you think about the colleges overall and what you need to take to get your degree as possibly more important factors.

Go to the school you prefer. If you do well in either program you will be in great shape.

@foolish Cornell students have plenty of summer opportunities in CS and finance in NYC

For undergrad, both companies you mention will recruit and entertain resumes from either university (grad students too for that matter.). Companies don’t split hairs quite like that.
