Since there are so many 'vs.' threads already, I figured I'd post my own. So what do you guys think, Cornell or McGill? I will eventually go to med school but I think I'll major in international relations or english or something (i.e. not science).

Cornell is better.

why is cornell better?

I see you're getting some in depth responses.

Anyway, I'm not sure how Cornell's international relations is. . .or even if we have a program. I mean, we have ILR, but that's not even close. I know someone at McGill that's doing international relations, so if you want to go into that major McGill might be better for you.

One of my friends here at Cornell is an English major, and from what I see, the English program is very good. Also it seems you aren't quite sure what you want to major in. CAS at Cornell is a great place to be if you're undecided.

With med school placement, I'd give Cornell the edge, but I'm just going by my impression. . .so I could be totally wrong. The premed courses will be hard, but manageable here.

Also, I think McGill is quite a bit cheaper, if cost is an issue.

Both are great schools. Reputation-wise, I think Cornell has a bit of an edge with the general public. However, I live fairly close to the Canadian boarder and everyone knows McGill. . .could be regional, but they still do pretty well.

Also, consider the type of environment you want your college to be. Cornell is in a small city, and has a vibrant campus life and the city is really focused towards students. McGill has Montreal, and while the city offers more, you don't have that friendly college town, and having an urban campus probably takes a bit away from campus life, because there is a lot to do off campus.

Cornell for sure...American schools are the best, forget Canada
