true… let’s keep our fingers crossed. if we all get in and decide to go, we need to make a club at Cornell lmao for going through this process together
@chickennoodlesoupppppp @justacuriouskid Not sure about all the other schools, but for CAS…I feel like they are gonna drag this out until the end of May. So we will all be in pain for the next couple of weeks as they said in the emails which they have responded to lol
I just saw this and decided to post. I have D waitlisted for CALS.
https://cornellsun.com/2020/05/13/cornell-receives-higher-than-target-admissions-acceptances-for-class-of-2024/
so does that mean they should be sending out the email to all waitlist people about not accepting anymore?
Well, looks like it’s over for us.
“As usual, the admissions office expects some admitted students will change their plans over the summer, Burdick said, requiring the University to revisit the waitlist to fill up spots. However, besides these few potential admits, Burdick said Cornell has no plans to admit more students at this time.”
Well, looks like this is the end for us.
This also makes me wonder how many waitlisted CAS applicants received the “top of the list” email.
For CALS applicants, do you think they still might offer TOs?
If they make TO offers, it will be in mid June, according to last year’s results
@MomGenie Thanks for the link and info. I’m assuming they are done now, and are just waiting to see if students will change their mind over the summer which personally I don’t think is too likely-- but who knows with the pandemic? Also, what do we think about the spring 2021 offers then?
@justacuriouskid I agree… pretty disappointing since they got our hopes up. But like previously mentioned, let’s look forward to what we already have!
Thank you so much for posting. It would have been nice for Cornell to advise each WL applicant of this update rather than relying on the press. My D committed to another university already but still had a glimmer of hope to get off the WL for CALS. Life goes on and she will make the best of it! Best of luck to all of the HS seniors out there! (and prayers for the parents as we try to help them navigate these crazy times!)
CAS had no reason to send that “top of the list” email. It served no purpose whatsoever except to create lofty expectations that were not to be realized. Like all other schools, and even following their own precedent in previous years, they could have selectively contacted only those who would be offered admission.
The timing of that letter also was unhelpful, coming as it did just before the May 1 deadline. It punctuated our commitment to other colleges with an asterisk. One more asterisk in a time full of asterisks.
Are we sure that that article is 100% credible? Ugh. Im really annoyed right now. Really just spent this whole week getting my hopes up and they really arent going to admit everyone that got that email.
I guess there’s no use in getting mad over it now but couldn’t they have waited to send that email until after May 1 when they knew how many people enrolled and how many waitlist spots were open??
I think after Memorial Day Im going to email them to confirm
@benandjerrys101 I had the same thought. Correct me if I’m wrong, but pretty much every single school that I’ve read about has been under enrolled, so why is Cornell the exception? Maybe I’m overthinking it, but even yesterday, someone on this thread got into CAS. If they already filled the class by May 1, then they wouldn’t have taken anyone after that.
Scratch that im gonna email them tomorrow lmao
@benandjerrys101 Great, can you post their response please?
since the news is on today 5/13, which means it is legit that someone got off on 5/12 , maybe no more after 5/13
@cooper1014 I’m fairly confident that I heard on the news that the Gov of New York is planning on opening up the area where Cornell is located. This could lead to a mass commitment due to school actually being in session.
