Hello, I was curious about how since this terrible pandemic affected the Class of 2020-2021, because colleges are going test-optional now, and will it inevitably be the same fate for the Class Of 2022? Or is It only going to have an affect for now on the Class of 2020 and 2021, admission-wise?
really no idea , the trend has been for schools to go test optional so next year will give schools a date point to compare to.
There’s already been a national shift toward test-optional policies. I wouldn’t be surprised if colleges that moved to test-optional because of COVID stay that way.
I’d say that applying for summer programs is going to be a lot more competitive for us next year because we’re already going to lose a summer worth of opportunities this year, so everyone’s going to try to make sure that they get into the best programs that they can next summer. Welp
No one knows what the effect is going to be. All we do know now is that there will be some kind(s) of effect(s). So it is probably best to just throw out any playbook from previous years.
My guesses? It is entirely possible that you will spend great parts of the next two years of high school in remote online learning as the virus passes through the country in repeated waves. It is entirely possible that summer in-person activities will continue to be curtailed.
My recommendations? That you master skills that allow you to work well with others in work-from-home/volunteer-from-home/intern-from-home environments and in socially-distanced environments. Those opportunities already exist, and there will be more in the future.
