@123211 if its one time send em a letter, if jus once, dont worry. They’re looking at the content of these essays, ie, are u a good person, will u take advantage of cornell’s resources and what not. One error will not break you.

PS: I applied to Cornell COE ED!!!

Thank you for the advice! @manas1997 @
I also have my interview today!!!

@123211 for COE or hotel?

@123211 good luck!

Thanks!! @manas1997

The “informal interview” with an alumni is for AEM at CALS.

@123211 can i get one for COE?

@manas1997 isn’t it required for engineering? If it is required, I think you have to schedule one yourself. If it isn’t, an alumni will contact you for an informal interview. But if an alum doesn’t contact you, don’t worry because maybe there are no alumni in your area.

@123211 nah its not required, i live about 40 mins away from toronto, and would do an interview, but if they dont give me one then its ok.

I misspelled five words on my activities section in the common app to Harvard. I am mortified because this is completely out of character and I read it over a bunch. I don’t know whether to send an email or if that would just draw more attention to the situation. I really don’t know how this happened.

Just in case you were going to ask, English is my first language.

Received only 2 B’s in high school with all else A’s and ACT score of 31. AP classes were not taken until senior year so taking 6 AP classes trying to catch up. Neglected to mention the reason for this on early applications. Should a letter be sent to explain now or is it too late at this point in the early round?

I know this is an old thread, but I need advice!
I put the wrong high school graduation year (2010 instead of 2011), and put that I earned 0 credit hours at my foreign college (because I was told by my current college that the foreign credit hours wouldn’t transfer). I’m applying to transfer from a 2-yr school to a four year school. How big are these mistakes? My transcripts and diplomas I’m submitting have all the correct dates and credit hours…should I be worried?
There is nothing at all to “worry” about here, but it would be worthwhile for you to email the college and correct the errors. This will only take a few minutes and will allow you to explain why you initially put down “0” for your foreign credit hours, in case the admission folks are confused about this. Correcting the mistakes could be helpful to them and will have no negative impact on your final outcome. Good luck!
Thank you for the response!!! I already sent one email asking them if I could change the mistakes…I probably should have just sent one email with the changes that needed to be made. : D
Currently freaking out. I forgot to put down that I’ve worked as a cashier at Shoprite since September on my common app for barnard, syracuse, and BU. My ECs are kind of weak and i feel like this work experience is really important!!! Do I email their admissions office?? What do I say?? Thank you so much
Definitely send a brief email to colleges to add your Shoprite duties. If you want, you can add a little humor … maybe something along the lines of, “I fear that my brain is now so clogged with the prices of iceberg lettuce, kitty litter, and lactose-free milk, that I forgot to include my job as a Shoprite cashier on my application. My work experience has been very important to me. [Add the specifics … where you work and the number of hours per week]. So I would like admission officials to know about this activity, and I apologize for omitting it from my initial application.”
No need to freak. This is not a biggie.
Hi! We have a joint position of Historian and Treasurer at my school’s STEM club. I listed myself as Treasurer on my activities section of common app, but my teachers who wrote my letters listed me as Historian. Is this egregious enough to send the colleges an email with an explanation? Will it seem as if I lied if I don’t correct this mistake? I should have just put both on the application…Idk what I was thinking. Thank you so much for being available to us stressed high school seniors.
@kryptonian … this is definitely NOT worth a correction. It’s not something that the college folks will pick up on … or will care about if they do. And the positions of Historian and Treasurer of the STEM club are roughly comparable (and, in your case, actually combined). It’s not as if you are president of the ping-pong club but somehow got listed as the president of the entire student body … or vice versa. So don’t worry at all and just let it go.
Awesome! Thank you so much for your response! I was flippin’ out.
