No big deal. Send a correction because the UC’s tend to be persnickety about this stuff. But making a small mistake then correcting it won’t hurt you.
@Sally_Rubenstone
Thank you! Should I correct it through each UC’s portal when they come out later this month?
@csg1234-Yep, that’s perfect.
Hello, I sent Common App “Additional Information” section WRITTEN in SPANISH (Covid essay and the reason of my gap year). How can I correct them!!! Do you think its important?
Well this is different my son is bi-racial, Caucasian mother and Asian father, he only listed Caucasian. He thought he listed both but didn’t. Is this something to contact them about?
@Montes
Send English translations via email to every college that received the Spanish version. Essays submitted in Spanish may not get read, and admission officials will question why you didn’t send English versions if you don’t follow up with them.
Address your emails to the main admission email address with a Cc to your regional rep. The regional rep is the staff member who oversees applicants from your high school. If you don’t know who this is, look on the website or call the admission office to ask.
@Xanthous1. It’s not urgent that your son correct this error but, if he were my child, I’d suggest that he do so.
Being biracial MIGHT work a teensy bit in an applicant’s favor. On the other hand, if admission officials can already tell from the application that your son is part-Asian (e.g., from his name, his parent’s name, parent’s alma mater) it might look like your son is trying to hide his heritage, which could be a teensy negative.
Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate your help. Do you suggest calling the admissions office or should he email his admissions counselor?
Hello,
In my commonapp for my activities, instead of saying 12 weeks per year, I put 52 weeks per year. Should I call the universities or is it too late as I did submit these in November.
I do have a recommendation letter that has the actual amount of hours
Email. Definitely. Don’t call. That way, the new info can be easily added to your son’s file with the least bother to admission officials.
There’s a major difference between 52 weeks and 12. So send a brief correction email+apology for the error to all colleges that received the wrong info. This isn’t a biggie but it SHOULD be corrected in spite of the time that’s passed since submission.
Ok thank you so much for the advice.
Would you recommend emailing or calling?
Thanks again! Your the best!
Oh wait I just saw someone else with this question, I’ll email them
Email!!
I had commonapp troubles and my application was submitted a minute and four seconds late and I still haven’t received an email from the school to set up a student portal. Should I be worried?
Never mind I just got an email.
Hello,
I realized I forgot to input my Painting class into the Current Courses section on the Common Application after submitting several applications with this incorrect information. Would this be something important to follow up with? I’m particularly worried it will negatively affect my Case Western Reserve EDII application, but I’m not sure if it’s too late to contact them as I submitted my application last October.
