@cjchasinglife I actually think UCSC was the least competitive last year? Irvine is usually second-least, but it may fluctuate with year.
Davis has the nicest and most organized website, though (I don’t know why this is such an important factor in my choosing clusters, but it may influence my decision). But then again, at Irvine you get to live in a residential hall called Middle Earth.
*‘So, what did you do this summer?’
‘I went to Middle Earth!’*
Does anyone know about UC Davis? Is it more or less competitive than other schools?
@topaz1116 I haven’t actually finished anything, but I got the first question (why you want to attend selected cluster) half done. My statement of interest is still very cliche, and basically not even started. Does anyone know whether COSMOS does rolling admission, or starts review of application after due date?
@topaz1116 I was actually just looking at their Middle Earth hall online the other day and thinking how cool that was!
@lilas24 I think UC Davis is the most competitive out of all the schools, but it depends on the cluster-biotech and biomed are the most competitive.
@cjchasinglife they are? uh oh
Oh great I’m signing up for biotech as my top cluster @cjchasinglife
Well the biomed clusters of every campus are the most competitive. @Cornbread1999 Biotech has been known also to have high number of applicants, but it doesn’t mean you can’t try. If you get accepted, that’s impressive.
yeah my essays suck and my extracurriculars are abysmal. The only hope I have now is my 4.0 GPA (which might be ruined if I get a B in English), and an 800 SAT Bio M
but does anyone know if COSMOS does rolling admission?
do you have to send SAT scores to COSMOS?
so they don’t review any application until after February 20?
Also, how personal/impersonal do the essays have to be?
Sorry for the comment bombardment, but where would we put our SAT scores?
I have no idea how anything’s supposed to be. I made mine somewhat personal (but mostly about what I like to do, not really deep or anything). I’ve never applied before, so I don’t know where we’re supposed to put our SAT scores.
Check out last year’s thread as a reference people.

I attended COSMOS last year at UC Davis and it was the best experience I’ve ever had.
Don’t worry about it too much, write generic essays and just hope for the best.
Although the acceptance rates around 15% (I believe), it isn’t actually THAT hard to get into.
Good luck people.
UC Davis COSMOS cluster 6 for life! If you do get in, I have some advice.
- Like bboyinmartin (who was my suite mate and cluster mate), COSMOS was the best experience ever. I don’t know if that means I have a really crappy life, but who cares, it’s virtually impossible to not love it
- If you go to UCD (because it’s huge), chances are that you’ll have a bike or a scooter. DON’T LOSE YOUR HELMET AT THE UCD LIBRARY YOU WILL REGRET IT
- Always remember that Cluster 6 (just kidding you can’t take our chant)
I kind of made mine personal; I simply wrote about some school project from freshman year.
They just changed around a bunch of clusters! I now want to either go to UCSC or UCD (UCSC has a first choice course I really want to go to but an okay second-choice course; UC Davis has okay first and second choice courses; and UCI hasn’t updated their cluster descriptions yet so my first-choice cluster is the same but I’m not sure about my second choice cluster).
It just became even harder to choose between campuses.
lol, my clusters did not change
