from what I can gather on their website, the cost of attending UT is around 30k total for instate for 4 years. I am baffled because this is pretty cheap for a university...does this include tuition, housing, food, and books?

I was sure I read it wrong and it seems I did, thats why I came on here to confirm, I wasn’t getting too excited. the wording just confused me when they said “Estimated Total Cost of Undergraduate Education (Fall 2009Spring 2010)” being 27k.

Oh, that number has gotta be in-state tuition only and is at the past year rate. Tuition has been increasing much faster than general inflation. I’d expect the next 4 instate years of tuition and req’d fees to exceed 40,000. Certainly their figure does not cover living expenses and books. Just my 2 cents.

I recently earned both a BA (Plan II) and BSChE. I paid in-state tuition. The total cost - tuition, fees, books, rent, utilities, food, gasoline, car insurance, renters insurance, etc. - of my five years at UT: ~$120K. The Army College Fund/MGIB and merit scholarships covered all but $5K of that. Apply for scholarships!
