Cost of Attendance/ admission response?

Just got accepted but when will I get a financial aid decision (if at all)

34 ACT/3.92 UW
Mid-year graduate (family/housing issues)

Also a Louisiana student, was wondering if I were to get the highest merit scholarship + TOPS, how much tuition would that cover?

Also, how long would I have to wait for a response from Tulane where they send out handbooks and such

@tigerbomb05

How much is TOPS running these days? From what the Tulane page says it looks like about $5,000 give or take a couple of hundred. So that would be $37,000, so that is about 57% of the cost of attendance, which I am reducing just a bit for you since I would think your transportation cost might be lower than average. Also, I did total cost of attendance rather than just tuition. Are you local and would be living at home? If so, that $37,000 covers about 75% of tuition and fees ($49,638 this year, they have not announced 2016-17 yet I don’t think).

You should get your partial merit decision in a week or so. The PTA/DHS decisions come out in late February to early March, and any need based aid decisions come out in mid-March or so. Oh, and if you qualify as a National Merit Finalist you get another $2,000/year. That get’s you up to almost 79% of tuition/fees, and 60% of cost of attendance.

I don’t think most schools still do paper handbooks, do they? I think it is all web-based now.

Tops for Tulane is about $2550 a semester and if I were to go there I would plan on living on campus but thanks! Glad to get a gauge for how much the total cost would be including room and board

Right, so TOPS IS about $5,100/year, as I used almost exactly in the calculations, as those were annual costs for attendance and tuition/fees. And yes, you should figure $65,000+ for total cost for the year including books and misc. I won’t tell you how much less it was when I went because, even though it was a long time ago, it would still make you wince.
