hey guys, so im a junior in high school and would absolutely love to attend Coastal Carolina!! my first two years of high school i didnt do so hot. but im trying to make a change now. Ive already started out with honar roll this first marking period, have been in clubs throughout high school, and volunteer all the time at chartities. Planning on hopefully doing well on on my SATS & ACT, and planning on writting my heart out in the essay. if i was to get average test scores and not a too bad of a GPA, with a killer essay…could this get me in? If not please let me know what i can do to raise my chances! Any feedback is more than appriciated!! THANK YOU!

Yes, this could get you in. CCU takes your GPA from the core courses, your SAT scores, and our departmental recommendation. Those three things are the determining factors to entry into the program. By all means, please apply.

@kjgc What is the projected freshman class size in the MT program this year, and what are your anticipated #'s for auditions?

We look for a class of 12-16 in Musical Theatre (tending toward the lower number.) The same is true of Acting. Physical Theatre takes only 8 at max. We will see about 900 in pre-screens, and about 110 on campus, 40 in Chicago (that have been screened) and another 25 in Dallas (that have been screened prior.) Some of those numbers are inflated by the mass auditions we attend. If we see 300 at an audition, only a handful of those are really interested in CCU. Overall, we see about 400 that really want to come to CCU. That help?

Definitely apply!! Last year, my son applied to CCU and his grades/scores weren’t stellar either, but the rest of his resume was quite decent. He passed his pre-screen and attended an on-campus audition. Try your best to do an on-campus audition-- they’re wonderful! It’s an all-day event and the CCU staff and faculty really make a point of getting to know each person there auditioning. We were given tickets to an MT production that same evening, and were extremely impressed by the show and talent. My son was ultimately accepted into the MT program, and it just killed him to have to email Ken back to decline the spot. (S is currently in Scotland for his MT training…the lure of an international education and experience was just too great.)

If a student auditioned for CCU at Unifieds but was not invited to the dance call, does that mean they were cut?
