Ok, I am a bit confused as to what classes to take so if someone could help or give their opinion, that would be greatly appreciated. :) (More info- I am a biological sciences major in CALS)

First off, I got a 5 on my AP Biology (8 credits) and English Lit (3 credits), and a 4 on Calculus AB (4 credits).

What classes have I placed out of in biology? Is it those four biology classes like 1101 1102 1103 and 1104? Should I use my credits for biology in the first place?

What does the 5 on English Lit place me out of?

Right now, on my schedule, I am taking Biology 1101 and 1103(lectures and lab), Intro to Psych, and Chemistry (lectures discussion and lab), and a swimming conditioning class (any advice on this class?). Those combine to 12 credits. Should I take another class to get 15 credits? Should I make my classes more diverse rather than mainly science?

Any suggestions or advice? I appreciate any advice and opinions because they would be amazingly helpful. Sorry about all the questions. You don't have to address them all, I just wanted to get it all out there. Thanks

For Bio:

[Cornell Biology :: AP Credit in Biology](http://www.bio.cornell.edu/advising/ap.html)

For lang:
You place out of one of the two FWSs.

Thank you for your help roneald. Is it better to use the credit not take these bio courses my first year or should I take the courses over to get good grades?

The main time I hear of people opting not to use Bio Credit is if they’re pre-med; most med schools like to see college level bio, even the introductory ones.

I myself am not using my AP Econ credit (for both Micro and Macro). Students from my own school who self studied (like myself) and did well on the AP Econ’s told me that they struggled when jumping into a higher level Econ course, even at less competitive schools. Students that I spoke with at Cornell also told me that it would be beneficial to take the intro courses because I plan on taking very advanced classes in Econ, and it’d be better to do be ahead and get the fundamentals down early rather than struggle early on and have to catch up later.

Again, it’s up to you. I would personally reccomend signing up for both bio classes, talking it over with a counselor during orientation, and then dropping whichever one you decide not to take.

Thank you very much again for your insight. I am looking to be pre-med and I think that I will take the Bio courses and not use those 8 credits. I think that taking the courses over again will refresh my memory and help with my GPA.
