could someone help me understand how this works?

so you send in your SAT scores from Collegeboard. how does the university match up those scores with your application, which would be sent in later? i don't understand this whole process!

how many things do we have to send anyway?
SAT scores, common app, supplement, teacher recs, school report, financial aid documents... anything else?

when you register for tests you give identifying information about yourself that collegeboard passes along to each school with your scores. The school uses that info to file the test results. If the school already had a file open on you it goes in that file. if not they open a file and add to it later when they receive app, recs, transcript etc. that’s why it’s important to include your name, high school, birthdate etc. on everythign so they match it with materials previously or later received about you.

each school’s website has a page with what it requires to apply. If you are an athlete or artist for example you may want to send supplemental materials to highlight those skills. and if you took AP tests or have transcripts from places other than your HS you should submit them.
