I currently have a 2.9 GPA. I have 3 more years of high school to go. Assuming that I recieve straight As from now till the end of High School, what will my GPA be by the time I apply to colleges? I have 6 classes. Each class is 10 credits, if that matters.

I read that someone went from less than a 2.9 GPA to a 3.9, how the hell is that possible?!

If I assume that you take the same number of classes each of your four years and all classes are weighted equally, your GPA for each year would be: 2.9, 4.0, 4.0 and 4.0. This works out to a cumulative average of 3.725.

Some possible ways to get the cum GPA above 3.725:

-take more than six classes per year so that the 4.0 is weighted more than the 2.9
-if an A+ is worth 4.3 instead of 4.0, then the cum GPA becomes 3.95
-AP and/or honors classes might be worth more than 4.0 for an A
-if the “core curriculum” of math, science, history, english and foreign language are the only classes used for GPA, then the freshman year (when Health, PE, Fine Arts and other requirements are often met) will be worth fewer credits
