Has anyone ever used that? It's on drugs, I tell you....

My sister was doing it last night (3.3 UW, 31 ACT, good ec's) , and it told her that ALL of the ivies were reaches, however it threw Yale up into "Safety" for no apparent reason.
It said that UCB was a safety, however University of Minnesota was only a match.
Lastly, It had UW-Madison as a "safety" (which isn't practical), however UW Eau Claire and UW La Crosse were only "matches."

How reliable is that thing? Should it be taken seriously?

It is a great tool to find universities that you might never have heard of, and that offer the majors and programs you want. You can use to it find lists from certain states or regions. The hitch is that if a university declines to report their SAT scores, for example, the system seems to put it in as a "0"- so ANY SAT score above a "0" makes you look like a sure thing for that university.

Use it to find schools that interest you and then go to the school's website to get accurate admissions information.

Meh. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had problems with the "Counselor-o-Matic." I've decided not to let that ridiculous tool get to me anymore... That website told me that Stanford could be a match, but that UCSD (one of the UC's, not Cal or UCLA) was something of a reach.

Absolutely crazy.

And, DougBetsy, I think I'll check out petersons. Thanks!

It was telling me to apply to ivies and LACs even though I said my interests were firmly in engineering and I wanted a school with mostly engineering students way back ages ago when I did it (I think it was theirs, at least).
