I'm from Norway and I graduated high school in June. Decided that I was gonna apply to schools in the US, and so here I am and it's turning out to be a bit of a struggle. The thing is I invited my school counselor to fill out my school reports through the Common App, but she tells me she doesn't understand what to do. Naturally I'm super annoyed and frustrated that she, as a counselor, doesn't understand how to help me with my college application. heh. I was just wondering if anyone has been in the same situation before, or if anyone at all has any suggestions to what I should do?? Would be much appreciated!

There should be some general advice on this topic available at https://www.educationusa.info/ You also should get in touch with the counselors at the advising center closest to you. They will have information that you can pass on to your teacher: https://www.educationusa.info/Norway

hello Ebbagron,
you might want to contact CommonApp and ask explain to them your situation. They might provide you advice particularly relevant to your situation.

Commonapp will not answer these questions - especially not this season when they’re still reeling from the failed roll out of C4.
You need to go through the counselor/recommender help posts and videos, then translate it to explain things to her. If there is an American exchange student at your school who might be able to help a little, or, try contacting some people at the Norwegian American colleges (which I assume are on your list): St Olaf, Augustana, Luther, Pacific Lutheran… who may be able to explain things to you in Norwegian.

I don´t know whether this is allowed or not but I created a fake common app account to see what the questions are. Then I created a word document with all the questions from the common app with the answers I knew (US stuff). I then invited my counselor who then completed the application with the help of my document. Fulbright commission has a lot of resources on their website for internationals applying to the US with guides on how to fill the commonapp etc
