Countdown to DECISION DAY!!!

I’ve heard that US universities are supposed to be giving more FA this year…which doesn’t really make sense to me…which makes me think that there must be a lot of rumours flying around…

GAHHHHHH 2 more days, 8 hours, and 28 minutes!

im very excited, hope everybody will get in

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

That is all.

…

But seriously, I’m so nervous. When I think about D-Day I get physically ill. I’m not even so worried about not getting in at this point, I just want to KNOW.

Agreed. I wanna find out asap so I can work on other apps…

Anyone else been feeling ill with nerves? I stayed home today with a terrible stomachache and something in my throat…
This is all so surreal.

I have three letters of recommendation from Columbia professors for classes i took there in high school. Will that help a lot?

^^for the first time ever, I felt physically sick with worry. I didn’t stay home, but it was still pretty bad. I mean, yeah, sleep deprivation caught up to me in the past, but this is just pure anxiousness.

1 Day, 20 hours, 4 minutes, and some-odd seconds.

hard to believe its been a year since i was in your shoes, stay cool and try to relax

i’m staying off college confidential until after i get my decision

@columbiaorbust

I’m sorry, have you looked at your username recently?

Columbia ED is coming out tomorrow? wow. Not even done with my first semester here, and they already have my freshmen replacements figured out.

I was just wondering, what are classes like there? Like I was reading about the Core, and it seems like it would be pretty interesting.

Just like at any school, the classes are highly variable. They depend on subject, style, level of study, professor, etc. You want to know specifically about the Core?

Usually, the Core classes that are strictly required (as opposed to Global core classes, for example, which are just normal classes that meet a requirement) have size limitations and are taught by professors who have a relevant academic history in the area. You’re not going to have a Literature Humanities class with a professor who has only ever studied astrophysics.

I find the classes very interesting because they expose you to literature and ideas that would not come up if you were at a regular school. If I went to Harvard, I might never have read Steven Pinker’s brilliant essay on moral development despite the fact that he is a tenured professor at Harvard. I just got done writing a massive essay about moral development for University Writing, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening process.

Visit Columbia’s page on the Core and read about the different classes. Pay special attention to the Literature Humanities and Contemporary Civilizations pages. Those two classes are the heart of the Core. IMHO…

I’ve seen people wishing us luck from here, so I wanted to wish all of you luck as well.
GOOD LUCK COLUMBIA ED PEOPLE!!! Hopefully we’ll all end up in the same state :)

Homework is different where I live, so I’ll be writing my first ever paper in USA:)

Good luck to all you guys from a Yale SCEAer! We’ve all worked hard and it’s almost surreal to know our decisions will be out in a couple of days! :)

17 hours!!!

Good luck to you guys from a fellow Ivy (Penn) Ed-er! May all your wishes come true and we all end up where we need to be :-)
