I’m trying to find ways of making time go by faster…and yet I’m dreading waking up on March 28th. Harvard is my dream school and I can’t imagine how ecstatic I would be to get an acceptance letter.

I’m so glad my break is later - we had a week off in mid-February, so spring break is the second week of April. Perfect time to go touring
I can’t imagine spending break waiting for decisions… Ouch.

popap15: I appreciate your great interest to Harvard and really wish you get into there.
Today is the first day of spring and try to enjoy everything ;)

Cheers,
Vladim

Guys… please remember that Harvard starts releasing decisions at about 5:00 PM EST. If I remember correctly from what I read, they could literally come out at any time EST during the night. They’ll probably send it at 5… but it could take a really long time to reach you.

Yep. Emails come in waves. Rejections came out first for SCEA and some acceptance emails weren’t received till midnight. It’s going to be a long night, the 28th…

Damn… If I have to wait until 4am (GMT) for my decision…

@balderdash, where are you getting the information that rejections came out first? It seems like there was no particular order when looking at the 2017 SCEA results thread.

You’ll find that the majority of those accepted knew they were accepted after logging into the admitted students’ website and not by getting an email right away. There is a slew of deferrals at the beginning as well. Plus, one of my friends who was accepted didn’t get her email till like 10 pm.

You also can’t expect everyone to post right away for various reasons: feeling dejected, do not want to post a rejection, too busy telling friends and family to post etc.

What is the admitted student website?

[Harvard College Admissions § Application Status Login](http://collegeadmissions.fas.harvard.edu/admitted/login.cgi)

@balderdash

I looked at that thread quickly of the first 25 people who posted results about 5 were acceptances. Which is about what you would expect. Then the thread went into a black hole about AA so I stopped bothering to look ;)

True that not everyone who gets in or deferred or rejected posts right away. Although I would guess that people who are disappointed may post before someone who is celebrating or calling their parents or friends.

True. But basically all of the accepted found out through the admitted students website instead of receiving an email.

^cheers for that

@balderdash
It is hard to tell from CC as a sample.
Some people said they found out from the website, others just posted that they got in.
Also, got to wonder if Harvard wanted it to happen this way, or was there some system glitch that caused this to happen?
Either way, it seems that last year that some accepted, rejected, deferred people were finding out around the same time.
So it is hard to tell what will actually happen this time around.

Given the volume of emails, I wish it were more predictable so that people weren’t having to read the tea leaves
(e.g. last name A-D 5-7, E-H, 7-9, etc)

I don’t remember reading this anywhere, but will financial aid information be available with the letter or will be have to wait a few more days for that?

^^ If you filed the FAFSA and CSS Profile by the deadline and submitted your 2012 tax returns (and your parents’ returns) via the College Board’s IDOC system, then yes, you should receive financial aid information with your acceptance.

@vladim thanks
Problem is March 28 is my last day of school before spring break, so it’ll either start in complete jubilation or complete despondency. Prayin for the former :)

I’m not going to check the admitted students portal no matter what. Waiting for the email. just causes too much angst… 3.5 days yo

@popup: This year more than 35’000 applicants applied to Harvard and most of them are qualified.
I wish you good luck and hope you get admitted to in Harvard, but however do not be despondent and don’t destroy your sense of happiness if you get rejected.
Hope to hear good news from you and other CC members… :)

3 days and 1 hour…
