Notification Date!

This is a quote from an article in the Harvard Monthly this month. I thought that April 1st was the Ivy notification day??

"Notification letters to all applicants will be mailed on March 30, and emails will be sent later that day to the 92 percent who have requested electronic notification.

Admitted students will be invited to visit Cambridge from April 16 to 18 for a comprehensive introduction to life at Harvard. They will have until May 1 to make their final college choices."

Harvard email said notification is by email on March 30 after 5 pm eastern.

All ivies are March 30th this year - last year was the 1st of April

The day changes, but all the Ivies release decisions on the same day, so yes, this year it’s March 30

2 days earlier than last year! With the increased applicant pool, it makes you wonder how much less time admission officers are actually spending on your app…

Or they hired more people?

“…With the increased applicant pool, it makes you wonder how much less time admission officers are actually spending on your app…”

That truly begs a more universal question: What did you do beyond the requirements that will allow Harvard (or whatever school you applied to) to spend more time on your app?

ahhhhhhh, this totally screws up my count down til april 1st!!! grrrrrrrrrr…

^LOL I made a countdown as well.

^me three. lol  66days 6 hours…

Well, there’s always the potential for, y’know, April 1st shenanigans. Better play it safe?

Interestingly enough, Emory Scholars finalists have on-campus interviews the March 23-26. That cannot be a coincidence.

Hmm. Are other private schools still gonna be April 1? Does it vary? Or will most schools now give decisions March 30th?

That’s only 2 months and 1 week away!

haha I’m one of the 8% who did not want an e-mail

@RainbowSprinkles, why? Dontcha know you’ll receive the letter a few days after they would send the email? Why would you put yourself through additional days of suspense?

Just wondering. :)

There is no suspense for me. I know I’ll be rejected haha
Plus, it’s much more fun to open up a letter than clicking on an e-mail. I think it’s worth the wait!

Anyone else here didn’t request an e-mail?

^ i considered waiting for the letter. but by the time march comes around, i don’t think i’d be able to wait any longer. :P

I did not request an email. Just seems classier and old school to wait for the envelope!

Wait where is this requesting email/letter thing? Is this done within your applicant account?

It was in the supplement

@loveneweng, high five! I completely agree. Opening up a letter with your hands is so much better than clicking on an e-mail.

@iceberg, on the supplement, you had a choice between receiving or no receiving an e-mail (all applicants are sent letters, though)

Does anyone know if the subject of the e-mail shows the decision? That would be so intense.
