***Countdown to June SAT 2011 Results***

Senior year, I’m taking…
AP English
AP Gov’t and AP Econ
AP Physics
AP Environmental Science
AP Calc BC
AP French 4
AP Computer Science
Debate
Tennis

I know what you mean about friends not understanding. I never see my friends anymore. Last year, I was in almost all senior based classes, and my friends just didn’t understand why I couldn’t take an easier schedule so I could be with them. This year, though because I’m a senior everyone will be the same people all day because only a select few take these classes, and I’m not going to lie. Most of the guys in the classes I will be taking next year don’t like me…so I totally can’t wait!!!

^ yeah, I’m gonna be so anxious that it might even be hard to look lol.

I’m applying ED and really don’t want to take it in October…that would be pushing it. Yeah^, i’ll probably stare at the button for 5 minutes, click on it, and then close my eyes while it loads and force myself to look at it. Haha

keeponreaching: where are you applying ed?

The biggest fear for me is that I might fill the circles incorrectly and the result becomes much lower than I’ve expected.

How do y’all feel about class ranks as part of the admission process. I know some states take it more seriously than others, and that other schools that have admissions officers for specific states take that into consideration if the state the student is in places a high priority on the rank.

sooooo what scores are you guys expecting/wanting?

I feel like my curriculum is going to be looked down upon very badly by any college admissions team since my school doesn’t offer IB or AP :/

my biggest fear is that i got tricked on more than I realize.

Columbia! My SAT score in January was sooo much lower than my PSAT and practice tests so i’m really nervous for this score! Luckily, i did really well on the subject tests so i’m done with those!

Sorry to have another post but my school doesn’t rank so it’s not a concern for me. I think it’s a bit unfair for some though because i know the local public school doesn’t take AP and honors classes into account so the valedictorian and salutatorian normally go to a random Cal State and the students ranked in the lower part of the top ten percent go to Ivy league schools and other more selective schools.

And RMSniper, i’ve been to a lot of visits and everyone assures me they’re only comparing my schedule to the classes offered at my school. That was a concern with me as well.

@ RMsniper, colleges will take into account the fact that your school has no AP or IB classes. You won’t be penalized for that, since it’s the school’s fault and not your own.

So nervous!!!

how many more hours?

I WISH my school offered as many APs and they put a limit to the number of APs you CAN take, so I’m only taking two, but I have a half day so I guess it all evens out.
AP Lang, AP Physics, Engineering Drafting and an Arts Elective (graduation requirement =__=)
Plus I’ll be taking Calc 1 & 2 at a local community college.

kilocupcake, 4 hours and 18 minutes! I’m trying to decide if i should stay up!

i type in sat times and this is the first thread that pops up… i heard that the scores do not come out until around 8 EST

I go to an inner city public school because it is better than the area ritzy ditzy private schools. We offer 3 times as many AP classes, and we have diversity that the other schools don’t offer.
My school doesn’t weight gpa’s, but we weight class rank based on AP, PAP, and regular. I’m 7th in a class of just under 500, which if you ask me is more impressive than being top 10 in a class of 150.

So I’m jumping in pretty late ahaha. But anyway, to answer some of the conversation questions…

I’ll be in my Senior year and I’m only taking 2 APs (I dropped APES at the beginning of the summer after realizing I could probably teach myself better than the teacher can.)
So I’m taking:
AP Government
AP English Language
Honors Chemistry
Honors Physics
Honors Anatomy and Physiology

And then I’m gonna take two classes at the local community college (Calculus 2 and Spanish 4) because my school is dumb and cancelled those classes because of “not enough interest.”

I’m looking to do pre-med in college.

The colleges I’m applying to are: Stanford (ERA), UCLA, UC Berkeley, University of Arizona, Northwestern, UChicago, and maybe Brown (and Harvard just for fun, hah!). I really want to stay in the Pac-12. And if I don’t get in to Stanford I would be very happy at the U of A. :)

Oh, and I’m not too nervous about the scores. This is my second time taking it and I’ve pretty much accepted not doing better, and I actually don’t mind.

Thanks guys. I know I’m in the top 5 of my class (just based upon my knowledge of mine and my classmates’ grades since my school doesn’t rank) out of c. 35 students. Seniors had the option to take Physics or Anatomy&Physiology. Do you think schools will appreciate a high grade in my Physics class versus a high grade in an Anatomy class? (or that I chose physics versus anatomy)
