Thx silverturtle, so is it “GST -6”

hi all, PLEASE tell me, if i don’t have a college board account and desperately want to know my scores asap, what’s the best way to find out? i don’t know if i can wait until the mail comes to me.

how in the world did u register for the test then…

through jhu CTY.

So, what score would make each of you happy? At what point would you decide not to retake? How do these scores compare to your expected score?

I’ll answer first:

I would be happy with anything 2400 and higher. I know it sounds bad, but I have to be honest: I truly would be unhappy with myself with anything lower; it’s my unfortunate nature.

I would not retake if my superscore were 2350+.

I expect something good, assuming my essay is well received and I did not mis-bubble.

i’d be happy if i can get into cty, which is something like 600 in each subject, esp. cr, that’s what i want to do for the summer.

My biggest nightmare is that the graders were not able to read my handwriting on the essay and, accordingly, gave me 0.

silver, how did you find out ur score when you were in 7th grade and took the sat?

I am fairly sure that I found out through my College Board account.

I’d be happy with anything above a 2000, something to build off of.

I would not retake if my score was above a 2150 (HIGHLY Unlikely veering on the impossible)

I expect something far below a 2000, as my practice tests never even got to a 2000:(

I’d be happy with 2350+ but I’d love a 2400 (who wouldn’t?)

I probably won’t retake if I get 2350+
Frankly I just want to be done with the SAT I.

2400 is still possible for me at this point, although unlikely. I think if I account for errors in the consolidated answers list/those I don’t remember correctly I might end up with something like 800M 770 CR 770 W.

In response to silverturtle’s inquiry:

I would be satisfied with anything in the 2300-2400 range. Actually, I believe it would be preferable to get something in the low 2300s or even high 2200s because then I wouldn’t be hesitant for a retake, but if I get something like 2350+ then I probably would not do the retake. The reason I would like a retake is because it’s another shot at the elusive 2400 and the fact that it confirms that your first score wasn’t a fluke.

Like you said, I would not retake if I got a 2350+. I predict myself getting 790m/760cr/780cw, which is a little under that value.

At first I thought that I did not do well on my essay; I only wrote 1.75 pages and did not use as much ‘sat’ vocabulary as I would have liked. However, I just read my friend’s essay online (for which he got an 8) and now I am fairly confident that I got at least a 10, if not an 11 or 12.

“So, what score would make each of you happy? At what point would you decide not to retake? How do these scores compare to your expected score?”

Like you silverturtle I took the SAT in 7th grade and in 9th grade. Going into the junior year SAT i had a 223 sophomore PSAT and 211 junior PSAT, so i was expecting at least a 2200 i think, wouldve been happy by getting at least a 700 in each section since my bro got into MIT with a 700 math, 720 CR, 750 W…but then i unexpectedly got a 2340. Definitely NOT retaking…this is my consolation if i dont end up getting NMSF…

btw silverturtle you never answered me in the PSAT thread about FL’s cutoff…i dont want to pester you but i value your opinion…though i predict you will say it will stay the same or go up.

^ Sorry for the delay. Indeed, I concluded that it will stay the same or go up one point.

TQSMNTASP: I feel for you man… it must suck to have done so well sophomore year and then under peform junior year. The worst part is that your junior score is obviously an outlier compared to your sophomore PSAT and your junior sat.

The worst part about this SAT is that due to the time released, my parents see the score before me. And they know my College Board password.

TQSMNTASP: Hopefully the cutoff works out in your favor, but yikes, I hope that doesn’t happen to me; I’m in a similar situation with a 225 sophomore PSAT.
And I’m in CA, one of the states with a ~218 cutoff.

There is really no need for concern. In one of my classes from last year, we were viewing sample essays from the College Board graded 1-9 (AP scale) and although I am fairly adept at deciphering terrible handwriting, this essay appeared as an overflow of chaotic squiggles. Truth be told, it received a 9.

But writing neatly as to not interfere with the comprehension of the reader is very beneficial and is just as significant to the ultimate essay score as the ideas written. I write in a clear, legible cursive style and I truly believe that it helped my score. Printing is usually best, however. This is conjecture, but based on the positive correlation between orderly handwriting and higher essay scores, the essay should be something that benefits females to the greatest extent.

^This, although I’m not sure my essay will be well-received.
