nope, not required

i'm pretty sure freshman can take 300 level classes, but i wouldn't recommend it...

you'll find at college it takes a certain amount of acclimation to get comfortable with what is expected of you, how to go about researching and writing a paper, how to prepare for exams, etc.

immediately going into a 300 level class you will find that there is no room for exploring those kinds of things, and a likely possibility that you will find yourself not only overwhelmed with the material, but simply overwhelmed by how to go about doing the work in the class, with no concessions afforded to you like in a lower-level class.

^ Definitely correct. As long as a class has no pre-reqs, anyone can register for it if it's not full when you register... but that doesn't mean it's a good class to take. The only one offhand I would say is Human Sexuality, PSYCH 339... PSYCH 101 is a supposed pre-req, but I and many other who take it did not take 101 first and it was perfectly manageable. It's a huge and popular class.

Are we supposed to have a good idea of what we want to take when we get to NU? I was hoping my advisor would help guide me on class choices within my department when we meet. Do I need to be preparing myself ahead of time?
