I hate to be spamming but don’t want to make any bad decisions. Since I transferred to public school my course load will be looking like this
English
Italian
Epidemiology
Algebra 2
Law
Us history they might give me ap us
Is this a decent course load for junior year?If not what changes should I make?
What are the levels of these classes? AP/IB? Honors? College Prep? Also, what levels have you taken in the past and how well did you do in those classes? You want to show that you are challenging yourself, but you still have to do well.
Have you looked at the admissions requirements of the colleges to which you might like to apply? There are a lot out there who want to see the Biology-Chemistry-Physics trifecta. Having those under your belt before taking epidemiology could keep more doors open.
All are college prep I have taken biology did well in the class took earth science got a 90. I just think I would get a high grade in epidemiology which would be nice to have junior year. I’m looking at mostly state schools as a prospective business major. Which most require 3 years of science, math, 2 of foreign language, 4 of English 4 of global. So I will definitely satisfy these requirements with these classes.
Will I be ok if i take epidemiology and get a good grade in it? Or should I take chemistry and get a lesser grade in it?
Take chemistry unless you’re sure you won’t get a B or higher.
Plan to take Italian through level 3.
Simply meeting the basic requirements is rarely sufficient for a flagship, especially since you’re not taking honors/pre AP/AP courses. What was your GPA at your private school?
Well last year in science it was a 90 overall m. In history it was a 93 English 85 math 70 Italian 80 religion 95 I think I personally deserve to be in ap us history because I got a 98 on the global regents and a high average. And isn’t the SUNY flagship buffalo. I’m thinking about applying to smaller schools such as new paltz oneonta Plattsburgh Oswego and maybe Albany. I’m also looking at cheap out of state universities such as uk, u Wyoming and Montana. And maybe FDU.
I don’t think I’m that good at chem and I plan to take a 4th year science 4th year math and 4th year language to increase the rigor on my transcripts
Very wise advise as stated.
Minimums are just that. If your able to you want to surpass the minimums to be a competitive candidate.
Well if I take 4 years of everything that will be surpassing most requirements. Right?
SUNYs have 5 very competitive universities: Binghamton, Stony Brook, Buffalo, Albany, and Geneseo. These typically require mostly honors courses, a 90+ GPA, and a top 10-20% SAT score. You could apply to two of these as reaches.
4 years of everything will meet flagship expectations:
Since math is your weakest point, take it easy and go through Algebra2 and either AP Statistics or precalculus. Add 4 years of English, including one honors/preAP/AP if possible; 2 years of Global + 1 year APUSH + 1 (AP) year economics, government, psychology…; Italian through level 3 or 4; Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and one more science; academic and non academic electives.
Hopefully you advocated politely on your own behalf with the 98 Regents score as proof of ability.
So you’re saying my best bet is taking chem next year. In order to get a high grade I will most likely higher a tutor and study as much as I can.
