Course Schedule??

I was looking at the course schedule section of the website and I'm just wondering what SU stand for? (as in "Course Schedule SU 2005-06 ")
My first thought is that it stands for summer, but then I thought Caltech doesn't offer summer session. (Or does it?? @@)
Yeah, I find decoding caltech's website a challenging task. It took me sometime to realize that SP actually stands for spring. lol

Graduate students needing external fellowships need to have a record that they participated in research throughout the summer, or they don't get their stipends. They "enroll" in research in whatever lab they have joined. The course schedule lists all of the advisers in every department, and the grad students sign up for the corresponding course and section number. Undergrads can also sign up for research or "reading" credit. (Reading credit is like an independent study, pretty much worthless for grad school/graduation but good for you to get ahead.) Normally undergrads do SURFs instead of research-for-credit during the summers.

got it. Thanks. :D
