Court Overturns Michigan Affirmative-Action Ban

"You may want to take an Econ class. We ARE a mixed economy. Those programs HAVEN’T been here since the beginning of the country. We haven’t been a pure capitalist state because it failed. Post 1920s stock market crash has been more and more socialism and less capitalism…

Redistribution of wealth is a fundamental part of socialism. We’ve redistributed wealth for decades… "

Seriously? We have NEVER been a purely capitalist country. Very few countries have. We have always had socialist elements, per say, but in such low amounts that to say we are a socialist country would be wildly inaccurate. We only have sparing amounts of redistribution, and much of it had nothing to do with the new deal.

But I expect that it doesn’t matter. xslacker obviously knows better, despite being wrong in almost every post so far.

You realize if we get rid of the last 15 pages, we pretty much won’t be missing anything. These arguments have been the same and been going in circles.

we may be mixed, but we are not socialist, the complete government control over the economy. i only stated this because jojouhgogo seems to think the fact that some people have wealth gives her the right to use her race to give herself preferential treatment in college admissions.

“we may be mixed, but we are not socialist, the complete government control over the economy. i only stated this because jojouhgogo seems to think the fact that some people have wealth gives her the right to use her race to give herself preferential treatment in college admissions”

This. jojohgogo and xslacker seem to believe the entire function of government is to fix every perceived racial and financial slight. As defined by them of course, because we can’t trust the evil racist white people to do so.

The entire 1800s where dominated by a purely capitalistic economy.

Seriously man… Personal attacks.

Try this… [Chapter four: Pure Capitalism and the market system](http://www2.gsu.edu/~ecomaa/Lecture3.htm)

Mj, I won’t even go into all of that and give you specific examples so you can show me how they weren’t actual racism and blah blah blah. And not all money is clean money. Interpret that as you will. I will take my leave now. I have a 1990 sat. I have a 4.0 unweighted and about a 4.2-4.3 weighted gpa. And yes I am black. If I am not qualified for Stanford or berkeley I will soon find out. Good luck to everyone applying to college in the fall and to everyone in college. Smash up some stereotypes for me. Adieu (or however you spell it)

You guys are ridiculous…

If I say we are a socialist country and then follow up with an explanation that our economy has been a mixed (capitalist/socialist) country since the 1930s then it is obviously clear that I am NOT comparing us to a country such as the former USSR.

Use some critical thinking… Please.

"Should I feed the ■■■■■???

The entire 1800s where dominated by a purely capitalistic economy.

Seriously man… Personal attacks.

Try this… Chapter four: Pure Capitalism and the market system"

There were no personal attacks in that post. Try again, ■■■■■.

Those farm stipends you mentioned earlier? present in the eighteen hundreds. Would you like to revise your statements, or keep spouting off revisionist history?
Did you even read your link? The era is popularly known for having minimal government intervention but there was NEVER none…something you might know if you had a post-high school history knowledge.
