Do TELL!!!

^^doesn’t matter they would still want the bump

"I have a fourth option. It would be a migical spell that causes all racism to go away. "

^ good luck pulling that one off. If you could, then more power to ya. We should make an artificial race we can all discriminate against, that way we get any racism we might have out of our system. Obviously we don’t make them powerful enough to rebel against us.

"You’ve been using personal attacks since you’ve arrived. Obviously, you are getting something out of them.

I will no longer respond to you because when you argue with a fool no one can tell the difference…

Have a good day sir. "

The height of irony: criticizing someone for using “personal attacks” while calling them a fool. Bravo sirrah.

Please point out my personal attacks. I have attacked your logic, but not you personally. This post of yours is essentially you conceding that you have no response to my criticisms of your flawed logic.

This is why we need an alien invasion.

An alien species would be just enough to fully unite the human race. :D

Aliens are always trumped by will smith though…

nope…the new transformers tackles that subject. some would try and unite against humans :(

“I have no problem with the second option but you do realize eliminating AA then creating a new process to ensure URMs aren’t left behind would just be AA 2.0 right???”

Ok, well this is going to sound idealistic. If there are failling schools, then the failing schools should be fixed. Now you are probably thinking that by admitting the URM, he/she can get a better education, make more money, get out of poverty, etc. That’s good. I DON’T want people to live in poverty. A lot of you people have commented about people living in poverty. Affirmative action has been in place for a while now and people still live in poverty. So giving people a boost at the college level has not ceased the problem. Now there are probably those who go back and help out there community. However, there are probably those too who just get out and don’t come back.

Yes I have generalized things and sorry for that. I’m not saying that all whites are rich and that all blacks are poor. I’m saying that if latashika can take advantage of the money her family has I should be able to use AA since both are advantages

and then those again who flunk out and come back. now i am sure that is an extremely small percentage

This reached 20 pages

@jojouhgogo but her advantage comes from her parents working hard and making money, not because of her skin color. if you don’t like the fact that people with money have advantages over those who don’t go live in a socialist or communist nation

I will say that I would GLADLY trade AA for perhaps a revamping of the public school system.

Though… That’s NEVER gonna happen.

All the things the pro-AA faction is complaining about are socio-economic in nature, NOT racially based. If AA was based solely on financial need, yes it would still probably target minorities more often than not, but it would eliminate unfair discrimination such as rich black kids getting into schools over better qualified students or poor white kids (the most abused group of all under the current system).

fixing the schools is much easier said than done. You’ve got a lack of funding, a tight job market, and a low level of qualified teachers in the area. If you are a pretty good teacher, odds are you won’t want to have to go to such schools. A lot of teachers are afraid to go there. Some of the teachers I have now even consider places like that beneath them. AA isn’t trying to solve poverty. If it were, then you are correct in saying poverty still exists. But things like poverty or any other disadvantage are going to exist, no matter what we do. If they are always going to exist, should we just sit and do nothing? Or should we at least try to help who we can? And with that, pow! I’m gone.

Umm… Point in fact…

We ARE socialist… Medicare, Medicaid, Public School, Police and Fire Departments, Social Security, welfare, tax breaks, free school lunches…

We’ve been a mixed (capitalist/socialist) economy since FDR and the New deal…

@xslacker you point out certain programs that help out the poor and public services that have been there since the beginning of our nation. that, however, pales in comparison to actual socialism

also, most programs in the new deal were deemed unconstitutional. hence, us not being socialist

I wasn’t saying that I don’t like rich people. And I am only Black because my parents are Black(; I am benefiting because of my parents’ suffering and my own. Technically

what “suffering” do you have?

also her advantage doesn’t come from discriminating against others as yours would

You may want to take an Econ class. We ARE a mixed economy. Those programs HAVEN’T been here since the beginning of the country. We haven’t been a pure capitalist state because it failed. Post 1920s stock market crash has been more and more socialism and less capitalism…

Redistribution of wealth is a fundamental part of socialism. We’ve redistributed wealth for decades…

Farm subsidies? Socialism
Free Healthcare? Socialism
Welfare? Socialism
