I just heard that one of my clients came down with Covid at the end of March. I last saw him mid-March and feel like a dodged a bullet. We met outside and I was double masked, but still! He didn’t end up hospitalized, but it was touch and go. He’s still recovering and thinks it’s going to be a while before he feels okay again.
I’m not surprised you didn’t get infected. You did what was recommended and it worked. I’m happy for you, though.
I’ve been a double mask wearer since day one. It just makes sense. I had a similar encounter with an unmasked (and infected) person in an indoor environment-he was also not respecting the six foot distance recommendation, but I was double masked. It was indeed scary to find out that he became symptomatic that night, which was the catalyst for my own covid test. Waiting for my test results was nerve wracking, but when it came back negative, I counted my lucky stars that I had thought to wear two masks. And I became very assertive with regard to enforcing protocol after that!
I am also a double mask wearer. I live in “that” state, and I trust no one. I am not yet at my two-week post-second shot mark, and I am not about to take chances when I know that so many of my fellow citizens have been taking way too many lately.
My co-worker’s best friend family got infected early Jan. The friend’s wife and daughter recovered, but the friend was hospitalized 2 months. Over the weekend the friend passed away. He was in his early 50s.
My nephew was tested positive for covid antibodies, but didn’t have any symptoms, except now he feels fatigue with brain fog. He just got his first shot of vaccine a week ago. We are hoping the vaccine will help with his symptoms.
So sorry @sdl0625 that is so very sad about your coworker.
We should all remember to count our blessings if we don’t know anyone who has suffered but not keep score.
Oh yeah, my nephew got covid in college. Fortunately he and his classmates got mild cases and appear to have fully recovered and are now fully vaccinated.
