Any suggestion for planning our visit during CPW? It looks like there is so much to do! Is there anything he shouldn't miss or I shouldn't miss? My son is off snowboarding until the 4th and our plan is for me to copy the schedule so he can look at during our flight back to MIT. He's interested in majoring in mathematics, but I only saw 2 math courses on the list of classes to sit in on (Calculus and Differential Equations) - are there other math courses he could sit in on? He's done calculus, multivariable calculus and is currently taking Linear Algebra and Differential Equations and "Transition to Upper Division Math"(its about writing proofs) at UC Berkeley. Thanks!

All the math classes offered this term can be found here. They just put calc and diff eq on the schedule because that's all most people are interested in seeing, but if your son is interested in math, by all means he should sit in on a more advanced course.

18.100B might be a good choice -- many (all?) math majors take it, and it's often taken in second term freshman year or first term sophomore year.

18.701 I hear is a better class, though. I might take it next year if I decide my GPA could take a hit.

Thanks so much!

One thing I forgot to do was check out the dorms, fraternities and living groups. I ended up picking a dorm almost blindly.

I don't know how helpful seeing classes are. But maybe that's just me. If you need advice on what dorms are good for what kind of people let me know.
