Cpw

I'm not sure if those of you who have been accepted have gotten any info on CPW yet, but here's a sneak peak of what the schedule might look at.

<a href="https://web.mit.edu/admissions/mitcpw/pages/schedule.shtml%5B/url%5D">https://web.mit.edu/admissions/mitcpw/pages/schedule.shtml</a></p>

This tentative schedule only contains the events that the Institute runs. It doesn't include any of the multitude of student and/or dorm sponsored events. Expect an amazing weekend of lots and lots of fun.

The problem is you need MIT certificates in your browser to view it. :(

Luckily, the schedule is in our myMIT portal when we log in to our accounts.

We've also posted the CPW portlet in a parents-accessible location:

<a href="http://web.mit.edu/admissions/cpwparents%5B/url%5D">http://web.mit.edu/admissions/cpwparents</a></p>

Yay! Thanks, Ben et al. -- if this is in response to my nudges for a "MyKidAtMIT" parents portal equivalent, all the better! (Although I tried not to be too annoying... :) ) See you all in April.

No problem! We figured that applicants would just share their CPW portlets with parents, but... we figured wrong. :-) The link above is the same content minus the registration form.

As for the parental login to MyMIT - still a huge priority. We'll start addressing that right after CPW, hopefully.

By the way mootmom, I love your blog, and your kids have AWESOME hair.

:) I told you I love hair!

uh oh. Does this mean that the MIT Adcoms have seen what we said about the cheerleaders??

cringes in pain

A good rule of thumb online is to assume everyone will be able to see everything you write or post anywhere, and are likely to be able to figure out who you are. (I realize I am just restating the obvious.)

I wondered when someone would realize that the MIT Cheerleaders themselves were quite possibly reading that whole thread....

T_T Luckily they were the 2003-2004 team. And I was pretty positive

There are tons of beautiful (and smart) people here, including the cheerleaders (both male and female!). I wouldn't depend on the web for that stuff - you should all visit the campus and see for yourself.

I just finished cleaning out all of my old clothes to do a charity garage sale. While I was putting all of my old clothes in bags, I thought to myself, “I don’t believe I ever wore THAT!!!” It’s kind of like saying stuff, or like posting stuff on the internet. A couple days later you’ll go back and say to yourself, “Did I actually say that???” It’s actually worse posting because you have proof… kind of like a photograph of you wearing *bright pumpkin colored jeans and a purple t-shirt.

Speaking of the people at MIT…

Although there aren’t thousands of Colin Farrell clones walking around MIT (“The Recruit”), an MIT student took time out of his lunch to explain some homework that I didn’t understand, taught me how to make up nicknames to put on the order form at Alpine’s Bagels, and even offered to answer all of our questions about “choosing the right college.” When it was pouring outside, another MIT student offered to share his umbrella with me and walk me to class.

And in my opinion, those actions are hotter and cuter than 100 Colin Farrells COMBINED… no, SQUARED!

"There are tons of beautiful (and smart) people here."

Yay Ben! =)

CPW! Everyone should come if possible. I went and it was awesome. I look forward to it every year because it just happens to coincide with a 4-day weekend, haha. I do encourage people to try to come the Friday before, or earlier if possible. It is great to get a chance to sit in on some classes...
