Can you elaborate on the questions for different interpretations, attributed his surpirse that writing could be taken in different ways, and elaborating? I don't remember these exactly. Also, the quote was "It was not ever thus" lol.

honestly i'm not sure, i just went through the whole thread and compiled all of hte ones mentionedd

different interpretations was with the whole lightning/lightnight bug, red, love .. how using the language makes it so different, but it ended up being a good thing b/c there can be different interpretations of it

elaborating - he listed all the different like man, woman, black, white, brown and then the question asked what purpose the sentence after served

i'm quite sorry i got it was not ever thus wrong

For the tone of the rhetorical questions, I put feigned indifference because I didn't like any of the choices and I couldn't distinguish a tone so I assumed it was indifference and feigned as well but now I agree with amused disbelief so it looks like I'm at a -3 at least..

Electronic media: the author responded to the work of social scientists with acknowledgement but said it was irrelevant to his argument.

I don't remember whether I put pertinent observation, but it is definitely not explanation because no one praised his book, meaning it can't be an explanation.
After the rich diversity, I said expanded on a previous statement.

-beneficial and important
-ultimately problematic
-soemthing-uh-saurus – bewilderment???
-dogmatic scientists see it as heresy – strong objection
-character = nature

Chidlren & media

-list of differences showed his rich diversity
-analogy: artist recording her single over and over
-elaborating
-received = understood
-different interpretations
-attributed his surprise that writing could be taken in different ways to - ???

Relationship: expanded upon definitely
Rented/owning: Metaphor

Ultimately problematic is a much better choice than cunningly fradulent. While it is fradulent, there is nothing cunning because it is ultimately problematic.

i put expanded upon and ultimately problematic
i seriously can NOT remember what i put for rented/owning one?? but i didn't put metaphor.. but i don't think i put warn either... oopsies

I don't remember exactly why I put explanation. I think I was gonna change it to pertinent observation but ran out of time. However, at the end of that paragraph he says: "I guess they are needy of my praise" I guess I interpreted since he Twain says that a writer will like you if you praise him, then the other writers criticize him because he hasn't praised them enough, hence providing an explanation for their actions. Then again, you could also call this an observation about how people view his work, so either one could really work. This was driving me crazy because I knew it was one or the other!

He said "I guess they were NOT needy of my praise" which was tongue in cheek facetiously implying that they didn't praise him because they were not needy of his praise.

yeahh the author described the dinosaurs .. she said how as kids they loved that their parents couldn't pronounce the names..it was something bigger than them
so she's admiring them

Anyone confirm mistakes I am seeing in this compilation? Stuff I'm writing is in bold. Everything I didn't comment on I either think is correct or have no idea.

-adores the dinosaur exhibits b/c they’re everything she’s not
-beneficial and important -- maybe, what question was this the answer to?
-ultimately problematic
-soemthing-uh-saurus – bewilderment??? -- Wasn't the answer to this one about him not caring about the name or something? Not bewilderment..
-dogmatic scientists see it as heresy – strong objection
-character = nature

Chidlren & media
-it was not ever thus – crystallize his point
-to draw attention ??
-children’s perceptions are determined by pop culture -- uh? not ringing a bell...
-children are ironists - learn that the media will just be thrown out
-how author’s view differed from one mentioned in passage - disagree b/c ..?
-pulp = inferior form of lit
-graphic violence ?? don't remember this answer either
-acknowledged the scientists' work but irrelevant to his argumentt

-italicized each and every – redundancy or qualifiers or pervasive phenomenon???
-profound – difference between lightning and lightning bug
-having his work read aloud was significant but discomforting
-mark twain - pertinent observation or explanation ??? I think it's pretty clear that the answer is pertinent observation at this point

-analogy: artist recording her single over and over
-elaborating
-received = understood
-different interpretations
-attributed his surprise that writing could be taken in different ways to - ???

I'm pretty sure it was bewilderment. The whole paragraph was talking about his confusion about the changes in the science he used to know so well.

And ouch - it looks like I got every single passage question correct, but I missed 3 of the sentence completion... =(

[quote]
-beneficial and important -- maybe, what question was this the answer to?

How would that one lady in the second passage respond to the part of the first passage about showing people the inner works of everything leading up to the end-result or something like that. I get the feeling I'm mixing two separate things into one.
