I'm so tired of SATs, I'm not good at them

Unweighted GPA: 4.3? Something like that
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 3 but should be rank 1 b/c i turned in a summer course class which lowered my ranking by .001

how are my chances looking? please be honest!

Yeah, based on everything you told me, the Ivies are a very high reach.

You should focus on applying to the UC’s, especially because you’re Asian.

Just a quick note, on your applications for colleges, be sure to remove all the excessive awards (Most Hustle, most offensive player, honor roll, and perfect attendance). You will be competing against students who are Intel Semifinalists, USABO Semifinalists, AIME Qualifiers, etc.

As of right now, for the Ivies, Stanford, and MIT, your SATs are a bit too low. If you get at least 2200, then you are fine. If not, then try to take a crack at the ACT? Some people are better at the ACT than the SAT, and vice versa. Also, your ECs aren’t “eye-catching.” They don’t make admission officers go “WOW, we need this kid at our university.”
Develop a strong passion for absolutely anything you want. It can be charity work, Biology (like me), soccer, etc. The possibilities are infinite. So establish a passion and thrive in it. Do as much as you can for what you have a passion for. If you like buisness, then
start a business! I have a interest in breast cancer and a passion to fight breast cancer, so I research at a lab, I help a non profit organization that’s fights breast cancer, I started breast cancer club at my school, and a did a few more things related to breast cancer. The top tier universities are a high reach as of now, but you can certainly improve your chances if you raise your standardized testing scores and if you develop a strong passion. Good luck to you!

Your ECs and academics are fine but your SATs are below the ballpark for an ivy. If you’re having trouble with the SAT, try the ACT (that way you don’t need subject tests scores, which should be 750+)
Also I agree with what the previous person said- you have good ECs but there needs to be passion for something- maybe spend more time on one of them (you like piano I’m assuming  ) and use that to get involved in the community, etc

Ivys, MIT, Stanford- high reach (unless you can improve your test scores, then maybe reach. But they’re a reach for everyone anyways)

UCSD- high match
UCLA/UCB- reach

Oh and chance me back please?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=1518169</a></p>

I like everything… Hahaha, i’m interested in so many things that I can’t settle on one! I was planning to major in business so that’s why I was working at a restaurant and working on my customer service skills. I also was considering to be a teacher (hence the tutoring.) My community service shows that I am passionate about volleyball and basketball. I volunteer at the local recreation centers to help out! As for piano, I’m going to start playing piano at a senior center for entertainment.

I also volunteered at a Alex’s Lemonade Stand (didn’t go too well), and will coordinate a heart walk that will raise ($1,000). I just love being involved in the community and helping people! I will help with food banks and raise money for third world countries with shoe drives, canned food drives, etc.

Do you think it’s bad if I’m so inconsistent with all of these things or can all of them be tied into “business?” Because I’m the type of person that likes to try everything.

And I have a 5.0!

I mean except for your SAT’s, your resume doesn’t look bad at all. Idk if there’s still time to take the ACTs, but maybe you should try

Your GPA and SATs are a bit low for Ivies, but like other people are saying, the UC’s seems like a fair bet for you.
Try to focus your apps to emphasize your experience in finance/raising money. So,etching like that may appeal to MIT, which is usually a bit more lenient with female applicants.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1525521-chance-me-upenn-columbia-barnard-etc-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

You can’t have an unweighted gpa of 4.3. Unweighted is only on a 4 point scale.

Honestly, I think that HYSM are high reaches because of your SAT I and SAT II scores – they’re good, but many other applicants will have better. I also believe that Cornell is a reach for you. I think that if you really push for it, Dartmouth could be a low reach/high match!

Chance me please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1525512-chance-me-will-chance-back-lower-gpa-very-high-act-great-extracurriculars.html</a></p>

MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, and Dartmouth are all kind of a reach unless you can raise up your SAT score

I know that you’re a solid match for UCSD (I have a friend who was accepted with stats similar to yours)
UCLA and UCB are also matches!

Chance me please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1525564-chance-me-uc-berkeley-please.html</a></p>

Oh, and I also started my own online business clothing store if that counts for “business passion.” I’m going to study super hard and get my CR & Math scores up, so SAT is hopefully around a 2200+. I’m also going to try SAT Chinese to make up for my third year of language since the course wasn’t offered at my school anymore.

My weighted GPA is 4.0 then, but on the transcript it says 4.3 because I took AP classes. And my unweighted is 5.0 because I’ve been getting straight A’s and took all AP/honors courses this year!

Does it help if I come from an area that is considered “low income” and pretty “ghetto?” It’s not the best school, and it’s near Mexico lol.

Everyone at my school has been going to the UC schools so I’m trying to head over to East Coast and be a little bit different from the crowd.
Thanks for all your advice :)

I’ve heard that it does, I come from a very rural school, only about 40 kids in each class, and it helps, it adds “character” to you, rather than just being a regular suburban kid. MIT, Stanford and HYP are going to be reaches, BUT you can also attribute your low SAT’s to going to a ****ty school that doesnt prepare you well enough for high stakes standardized tests, I know the feeling.

Anyway, I think your app makes up for the rest of it though.

Chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1525710-bowdoin-chances.html#post16144382</a></p>

I think your application is decent all-round but your test scores are really weak for an Asian. I know plenty of strong applicants with great scores getting rejected from the Ivies.

I think you need to seriously work on your test taking skills and make sure your essay is eye catching.

UC schools should be low-reach to match for you, but all others will be reach to high-reach. But don’t lose hope yet! Just put in a lot more effort and I’m sure you will get into a great school.

Chance back a fellow Asian!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1521222-doing-very-badly-school-but-want-try-top-schools-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Take an AP SCIENCE SENIOR YR!!!

You could be wasting a lot of money if you’re applying to that many highly selective schools.

If you really want to go to an Ivy, apply to Cornell Early Action. That’s your best shot. I think you’ve got a good shot at UCLA and UCB, I’d say UCSB is a low match/high safety. I think the rest of the schools you mentioned are mid-high reaches. Good luck!!
