I’m not sure if there are any concerned MX or other school parents out there who have kids in Austin training for crew (I know MX is down here, but not sure about other BS teams). In light of the recent bombs (one yesterday and one in a nearby town this morning), I just wanted to send out word that so far, downtown Austin has been ok. There is a large police presence and I have seen law enforcement investigating any boxes or bags on the side of the roads. I walked about 7/10s of a mile & back for my Starbucks this morning and Austin is definitely on high alert, not taking chances with any packages, etc. I’m sure other coaches are staying in contact with parents as ours are, but I wanted to also reassure anyone who may be nervously awaiting calls from kids with updates. You can definitely contact me here & i will give you as many updates as I can. I’m thankful I can work from anywhere, so I’m seeing the kids (including mine) several times per day. Hugs to all those that have been out of sorts with this situation.
Thanks for posting this. My thoughts are prayers are with everyone there. DH is headed your way this week for work and I’m a tad anxious about it. It’s reassuring to hear your report of how things are being handled.
The most recent incident does not seem related to the rest. Knock on wood, downtown is not being affected. I know Blair is also here. I’m keeping my finger on the pulse as best I can. If you do have kids here, just make sure they avoid packages/deliveries. I would not send them anything…have them get it from a local store. I have a car, too, so I could go pick it up for you, if you were concerned. Right now, I’d just avoid ups/FedEx until it is straightened out. Luckily, they found an intact device in a FedEx center which is giving them leads.
Hugs to all anxious parents out there. It’s much easier being here!!!
