Hi all,

I have noticed a very strange pattern with the critical reading sections that I have done so far. It seems that the section with 5 sentence completion questions keeps plaguing me in terms of time. I can never seem to finish and it is always my worst section as I get usually 5 questions wrong. Can someone help me overcome this issue? Any advice. The other 2 critical reading sections I seem to do fine in meaning getting no more than 2 wrong on each sections and sometimes no errors.

Cheers

Go faster? If you’re running out of time, that seems like the only solution. Try going faster and see if that brings your score down or if you miss points elsewhere. Also, if you improve your vocabulary, you’ll be able to move much faster.
Practice, practice, practice since the more you practice, the faster you’ll be able to go.
Also, cut out the questions you miss and tape them into a notebook. Review these questions and make sure you understand how to get the right answer.

Thanks caughtintraffic, I don’t cut the answers out of the blue book but what I do is write down why I got the answer wrong in a notebook i.e. I write down the crux of the issue. I have done 5 practice tests, so I agree that I need more practice; I just hope things work out. I think I’m too slow on the sentence completions for that section. For some reason I find this particular section difficult and the sentence only have 5 sentence completions which I find more difficult. So I think I take too long on those, but I’ll keep hacking at it.
