<p>That's messed up. As a female, I think I can safely say that a female student can have a more personal relationship with a female teacher thatn she can (and should) have with a male teacher. Not to say that you can't develop a "good" relationship with a male teacher. My research mentor is male, and I would say we have what would be considered a "good" relationship, but there's nothing inappropriate about it...and I daresay my mentor has made sure to keep it appropriate and not make me uncomfortable or make anyone have any reason to wonder.</p>
