CS at UF v UIUC

Not sure where to post this so I’m putting it here, please redirect me if need be! Anyways, I got into UF for computer science and am waitlisted at UIUC. My question is this: is UIUC for Computer Science worth the wait and the money? I’ll probably (fingers crossed) be in the honors program at UF and was wondering how strong their computer science program is in regards to getting internships and job offers and preparing for grad school, compared to Illinois’. If anyone could shed some light on the situation I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Also, I am in state for Florida, which is why I was wondering if Illinois would be worth the money as well.

Well, UIUC CS is among the best in the country.
But… how much of a premium are we talking about?
What’s your parents’ budget?
How much would each cost, if you do (tuition, fees, room, board) - (scholarships, grants) =?

Well in-state I would receive bright futures and whatever FAFSA gives me which would bring UF down to around $5000-$10000 whereas in Illinois I would only have help from FAFSA. My parents said they would cover tuition as long as it was either in state or top ten for Computer Science. I just want to know if UF will give at least similar internship/job opportunities as Illinois would or if the difference is drastic. Anyone that has gone to either school for CS that can give me some insight?

CS grads do fine (jobs/internships/co-ops) at UF (and at many other schools, it’s a field that’s currently in great demand), it wouldn’t be worth the drastic difference in cost. With drastic being the key word here…for CS it’s about $50K (OOS) a year at UIUC vs $19K (In-state) a year at UF (before Bright futures, federal grants or loans).
