CSM vs. CU

Thanks ldmom! That’s no where near where I am. Good luck to everyone!

I’m always willing to read about people’s experiences at CSM. How did you like the housing physicsrule?

It was a rather whirlwind day, but I did like what I saw as far as the rooms were concerned. I think I would like the “lofting” that is offered.

My overall impression of Golden was favorable, we stayed at The Golden which was nice and ate dinner at a place called “Woody’s.” We flew up Sunday and left Monday after the presentation.

I did pretty well in high school with a 4.4 and a 30 ACT and I didn’t receive a single dollar from CSM plus when I visited I didn’t want to spend a weekend on that campus let alone four years.

I’m CU Aerospace and got a CU gold grant which was merit based (GPA over 3.5) and totalled $4k/semester in-state while undergrad. I don’t know if that helps someone out of state. I would assume you would probably get similar grant totals with loans for rest at CU…based on conversations with friends from out of state, but second hand info and different financials so…? The engineering school at CU is not like the rest of campus, we work really hard, don’t party as much (I mean you can go to the west side of campus and find plenty if ya want) and there are engineering dorms. Good luck!

As far as financial concerns, I would like to say that as a strong in-state student, I got $4000 a year for engineering at CU so far and $5000 a year to Mines, so they do give out some money. I haven’t heard of many people at my school getting any money, though.
