CSS profile: 2 Questions: Child capital gains, gap year

Filing out CSS Profile and have 2 questions that perhaps others have encountered:

  1. My child had a modest amount of capital gains in 2015 (under $100). I don’t see anywhere where it asks to enter that amount. In the parent’s section, there’s a question that asks for other taxable income, but no where in the child section. I guess it indirectly has the value since it has the child AGI and all the other child income values. Am I missing where to put it?

  2. My child is currently on a gap year overseas program where he’s volunteering and taking some classes for college credit. There’s a set of questions asking about the Student’s data: Name of school attending 2016/17, year in school (two choices that seem ok: first year college, other), how much did parent pay for education for 2016/17. I’m thinking I should put the name of the program, the associated overseas school, enter “other” for school year and somehow figure out a portion of the total program that went toward the college credits. Seem reasonable?

Thanks for any help

If the capital gains were taxed, they would be included in student AGI as reported in SI-105. If they were untaxed, you can include them in SI-160, untaxed income.

The gap year information can be explained in section ES at the end of the form.
