Current and former Fordham students, I just received an email in the mail that the CSS profile for Fall 2016 Freshman is due tomorrow, December 4th? Is this the same thing as the FAFSA. If so, I thought I had a lot more time to fill that out. I’m attempting to get it done tonight, but what is the consequence if it’s a little late?
It’s not the Fafsa. It’s through the College Board. Not sure about how strict the deadlines are. I don’t think they award anything - merit or fin aid - until later, but I might be wrong on that. I would ask admissions to be sure.
@nolagirl55 It’s not the same thing as the fasfa but it is also for financial aid. In one of the emails they sent a while ago they said that if you didn’t get it in by the 4th they would wait and evaluate your financial aid package with the regular decision applications.
Think of it like the FASFA is a “general” form, while the CSS is a whole lot more specific look into your financial situation (they take into account the value of your house/ retirement savings/every single penny you can remotely leverage etc) but you can estimate numbers…
I believe there is a $25 fee for the application and initial fee report and then16$ fee for additional schools through College Board to file it. About 50% schools require it along with the FASFA. (Some just use the FASFA)
In order to get ANY merit money, Fordham requires you to submit it! You ALSO have to submit the FASFA when it comes out in Jan for any merit money (even if you don’t qualify for any financial aid).
I’m in the same boat as you. Really thought I had a lot more time to do it than I thought. I started it but it’s really long. I’m hoping they accept it even on the day of the deadline because I have to attempt to finish it tomorrow.
