CSS Wrong Info

So, my parents are divorced, but they’ve been back together for nine years now, just not remarried.
They filled out the CSS as divorced, which I told them they weren’t supposed to do, but whatever.
Now Colgate is asking me for six hundred things for a non-custodial parent, but my mom a) is unemployed and not looking for work and b) hasn’t filed any taxes as a result.
What do I do? My parents don’t listen to a word I say regarding anything with a dollar sign in front of it, so I’m concerned they won’t go in and fix the mistake (is it a mistake? Online sources said not to file as divorced, but, hey, maybe I’m wrong).
At this point it’s become such a headache that I might as well withdraw my fin. aid requests. Getting the FAFSA and the CSS was like pulling teeth, so I doubt I can get these 8 other forms, plus the tax returns that my family still hasn’t done.

…and to think I thought the applications were the end of all of this stress :))

You have bigger issues; you need to correct your profile for both of your parents since they are your biological parents living in the same household. You also need to adjust your FAFSA to reflect that your parents are unmarried, but living together. As it stands right now, you are fraudulently applying for aid, which can have bigger implications like getting your admission rescinded or getting no institutional aid,

They are asking for your 2015 financial information. Was your mom working in 2015? If yes, that is the income that needs to be put on your FAFSA & CSS profile. Unless you plan on pulling all of your applications and not go to school in the fall you need to correct your information.

Agree with @sybbie719. You should be able to change your FAFSA to reflect the accurate info online.

BUT…you can’t correct the Profile online. You will need to contact yourmcolleges to ask how, they wantthis information corrected on your Profile…and really…that IS important because the Profile is what theynwill use to determine eligibility for institutional need based aid.

Fantastic…so I was right, and they should have applied as married?
So change the FAFSA, and contact each school individually about the Profile. I’ll call them ASAP.
