CSSI applications for 2019 are out so thought might as well start a new discussion.
The questions are pretty vague and I was confused on what to write about. For example, Q5 asks, Say you are trying to upload a photo to share with a photo sharing app. You see a non-specific error message, like “Sorry, something went wrong.” List all the ways you can think of to try to fix or work around the error. (200 word max limit) Can someone share their thought process for this question? I don’t even know where to start. Are we answering this question from a programmer’s point of view or the user’s point of view?
Hey, I also started an application thread a few hours before you about CSSI. Great to know others are applying too.
For question 5, I just wrote my answers from the users perspective. At first, I was confused about the wording of the question. It says “List all the ways”. I wasn’t sure whether to create a list in a paragraph form or a list in bullet point form. I spoke to a college professor about this who said to write it in bullet point form.
I think the best part of this question is that you don’t really need any CS experience to answer it. I just imagined myself uploading a photo to Instagram and then wrote what I would do to fix the situation.
Good luck on your essays!
