CSULB Chances of Being Admitted

I’m currently a high school student who is planning to apply to CSULB next fall. My weighted GPA is 3.5 and my SAT score is (1150 out of 1600), what are my chances of being accepted into this school? I don’t live around the campus itself but I do live in LA county (about 12 miles away from the campus). Would I be considered a local student? How would it affect my chances? I also have taken a couple honors and AP courses.

CSULB like all the CSU’s except SLO use the eligibility index to rank applicant by major.

(CSU GPA x 800) + ( SAT Math + CR). If your CSU GAP is 3.5, then your EI is 3950. An EI of 3900+ is within range for CSULB, but it will depend upon the EI’s for the in-coming class and your major.

I would say a Match-High Match unless you are applying for nursing which would be a slight Reach.

Check this link to see if CSULB is in your local in-service area. Being local will give you priority.

How competitive is the criminal justice major?

CSU’s do not report GPA/Test scores by major so it is difficult to determine how competitive some majors are in comparison to others. Overall acceptance rate is around 34% so it is considered a selective and impacted campus.

You are a competitive applicant but, it isn’t in the bag. Be sure to apply elsewhere. Sacramento SF and Fresno have solid CJ programs.
