@ElAye2OhSea I was just about to ask you that this week, ha! But nope, I’ve heard nothing. It’s making me nervous for several reasons. CoTA didn’t verify an estimate of when they’d have decisions and without their consideration (admissions cannot provide an update). Then there’s the housing issue . . .
@DasherCat
They said by the end of March. Weird thing happened though. Financial aid sent me an email regarding needing more info, then sent me a second email saying that if was premature and they would let me know on April 1st. As far as I know financial aid is only considered after admittance, so it got me thinking… lol
Offered Admission!

@ElAye2OhSea
Do you have any update on your application? What is the best way to check your application status? Via csulb.edu/applicationstatus or MyCsulb ?
@HeatGun
Nothing yet, Ive been using CSULB applicant self services religiously every day. Did you apply for Industrial Design as well?
Getting a bit antsy over here. A little happy that I’m swamped with Art Projects though to ease the wait. Maybe I’ll check the self service bit.
@ElAye2OhSea
No, for Interior Design, I guess some department reviews applications, I was required to upload up to 6 pictures.photos with portfolio as well
Just checked my status. I was unfortunately unable to make it into the BFA. I actually expected that considering that I had no prior experience/classes for my field (they don’t offer them at the CC I go to and anything within a 40 mile radius doesn’t have classes that articulate).
BUT, I was still offered admission through Studio Arts. And I’m very happy and okay with that!! In fact, I was debating between Graphic Design and Animation/Illustration So this will be a great opportunity to explore the two!
My states were a 3.71 GPA, finished GE and Golden Courses.
@DasherCat
Im sorry to hear that, but I’m glad you will still have the opportunity to go to CSULB and pursue your BFA at a later time.
I totally understand where your coming from in regards to classes at CC. We have an uphill battle, competing with students already at CSULB that were exposed to classes we have no access to. Everyone who aspires to get into ID at CSULB has way more pre-design classes than I do prior to portfolio review. So I feel you
Did you apply for CSUF also? Cliff Cramp teaches illustration over there… and it was a close first for a lot of my friends who are at CSULB now finishing their BFA.
Still waiting…
@ElAye2OhSea
I feel your struggles indeed. Hmm, I was hoping you’d get your status update as well. But I hope you do well! I wonder if COTA will give us a letter or anything noting content of our portfolio. I knew from the original letter that they would give us automatic consideration for Studio Arts if we didn’t make it, but I wasn’t sure if they also had to have a mutual agreement with admissions. The letter was worded funky.
I saw you were asking about the 2 year pledges in another thread. I’m actually debating between Fullerton (that was the first school to admit me) and Long Beach right now. It’s the housing and time in completing our degree that have me debating universities, I’m also wondering which has better quality in the art field.
Btw, thanks about that tidbit on Cliff Cramp!
@HeatGun
Any word yet?
@ElAye2OhSea
I have been checking my status daily, no update yet
The current status of your application:
Your application has been forwarded to the academic department for their review. Every effort will be made to provide you with a timely decision.
@HeatGun
I called admissions today, and to put it nicely…the rep was useless.
I told them the email sent by COTA/Design Department (I assume it would be the same for you) said we would be notified by late March. Given theres only a day left in the month, would we hear a response possibly by tomorrow? Her response was “Were giving responses out till the end of April”. So what about the email, why bother putting dates and deadlines to inform us if you dont plan on adhering to them.
Im sure they get the same questions day in day out every single year, but don’t give me your generic blanket response.
Utterly Frustrating.
@ElAye2OhSea
Funny how you were told that they are giving responses out till end of April, because I was told that by admission that mid-may is when most of design students will hear from CalState, which didnt sound realistic.
Good luck to all of us who are trying to manage their future with this corrupted school
@HeatGun
“mid-may” … thats ridiculous! Some schools deadlines for ECD is May 1st
They really don’t seem to have it together over there
Sigh, congrats to everyone that has been admitted! I’m on the wait list and they won’t let me know till the end of June. Hopefully I get in 8-|
@Mountei91
What major did u apply for and when did u learn you were in wait list?
@HeatGun I applied as a sociology major and I found out around February. It just sucks because CSULB was the school I really wanted to get accepted into, and I don’t know if they even accept a lot of people from their wait list.
I just received my acceptance email for Industrial Design.
I wish you all the best of luck!
@ElAye2OhSea
Congrats!
Thank you for updating us.
