Hiiiii. So, just got my acceptance letter yesterday from Long Beach. (WhootWhoots) Thought I’ll share with you guys my stats for your future reference.
Was finding Spring 2016 official admittance threads but since there’s none yet. Here’s one for you guys to exploit
Term: Spring 2016
CGPA: 3.3 (2 transcripts from Malaysia and Santa Monica - 3.25+3.6)
Major: Finance BS
SAT scores: None
Got in for CSUN also and awaiting CSUF’s acceptance letter (hopefully too)
Otw to apply to out-of-state schools as well.
Planning to get 4.0 this fall semester then apply for USC, SDSU, Cal Poly SLO next fall and see how that goes with my ECA’s. Hmmm…
Anyone have good academic viewpoints on why CSULB is a better university compared to other CSU’s other than it’s “harder” admittance rate due to high amounts of applicants each semester? (I’m still iffy about attending the school once compared to other “higher tier-ed” universities or ivy leagues :P)
Feel free to use this thread as a medium to discuss on admittance worries or issues :3
I got on the wait list… I’m currently taking a major requirement, so I kind of saw that coming. Does anyone know how likely it is that I will be accepted at this point? I know that not every admitted student ends up enrolling, so these spots will be given to those on the wait list.
Major: Healthcare Administration BS - wait listed
GPA: 3.4
Golden Four: Completed last summer
Major Prerequisites: Currently enrolled in the last required class
Recommended Courses: Completed last year
IGETC: Missing two courses (Art, Humanities)
The wait list gives me a glimmer of hope because they could have just denied me all together. Anyone know my chances? I applied for the same major Fall 2016 just in case, and I did a TAG with UCSB Econ and Accounting. However, I would prefer to save money at CSULB.
Major: Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 3.42
Golden Four: All completed
Major prereqs:All completed
IGETC: All completed
Status: Denied

I think the main reason you got wait listed is because you have not finished your major requirements at the time of application. They evaluate based on how complete your whole application is. Since you’re going to complete them this semester, you and the pool of similar situations would be considered for acceptance before the pool of students that are missing one of the Golden Fours. Or vice versa, depending which is their priority.
Since we aren’t required to send in any personal essays, recommendation letters, or any ExtraCurricular activities, I would assume the chance to be accepted after being wait-listed to be not as prominent as if they required (unless they somehow stalk your Facebook profile to find out who you are or something haha.) - but that would be highly unlikely. Meaning evaluation will be entirely dependent on whether you meet the requirements, CGPA, and whether they like you or not at that present point of time.
I think this year will be more competitive than the previous year due to their reputation and popularity
But that’s my opinion on the wait list. It isn’t a definite answer because it’s extremely hard to predict. Even people with high CGPA’s don’t get accepted. That being said, only about 30% of students choose to go CSULB because it’s a good school and a good backup school for most people. So I think it’s all Partially based on luck maybe?
Let me know what you think.
I applied for Spring 2016 beginning of August as well and I was accepted on September 30, 2015.
65 units IGETC completed
Transferring from El Camino College
Overall GPA: 2.7
Major: Liberal Studies: Intergrated Teacher Education Program
I got lucky with my low GPA. I also applied to CSUF which I’m waiting for a reply. They are already requested my official transcripts which I sent already.
Wish everyone the best of luck!

@mpen181
Hey, just wondering. Is CSUF any good? Why are you transferring to CSULB if you got into CSULB? Just curious here
@DarrenTJW
“Why are you transferring to CSULB if you got into CSULB?” what exactly do you mean by this lol!
csuf doesnt offer petroleum engineering so thats one of the main reasons.
“While we are not able to offer you admission at the present time, your academic background and potential for success at CSULB have earned you a spot on this list. This is significant; as you could still be offered admission should a spot in our Spring 2016 class become available.” - CSULB Admissions
They also had me send in my official transcripts, so I’m hoping for the best. At least those are on file in case some spots are left available. I just don’t want to wait until December to get a final decision… 8-|
@mpen181
Wopes. Haha I meant if you got into CSUF. Was typing on my phone in the bus must’ve sent wrongly haha. Right right, that’s good then! How was CSUF for you though? I feel like I still need to evaluate their business school thoroughly to make a final decision.
@CCTransfer94
I guess it might be the budget issues that you got waitlisted. Once the pool of students that got accepted decide to enroll in another university, they should open up the spaces to you guys. Also, I think what helped my application was that I’m a transfer from a top Community College in a somewhat local area in Santa Monica not far from Long Beach. So that’s one thing else that was brought into consideration. I’ll call up the admissions and inquire about the waitlist process and let you know once I have sufficient information.
@DarrenTJW
parking sucks!!! seriously! there’s nothing really much i could say aside from that
the rest are all positive.
@DarrenTJW
Thanks, I appreciate the help. I’m a So Cal resident (Inland Empire), but unfortunately not from LA or OC, which are usually given higher consideration. But congrats on being admitted! Let’s hope some people turn down Long Beach 8->
@CCTransfer94
You’re welcome I still havnt gotten to calling them up yet, have been a tad busy haha. Will do it tomorrow and let you know. Surprisingly very few people check this forum, either that or no one wants to post their stats haha. Appreciate the wish. I really hope you get in too dude! All the best!
@CCTransfer94
Hey, I contacted CSULB’s admissions and since you’re not an international student yourself you would have to contact enrollment services for the status regarding your case. But they said they won’t know how long the wait for decision with be. Either way, don’t wait till last minute to apply to your backup schools. They have not checked on the transcripts also, so you would have to wait a bit before they can gather all the required information to give you a decision. All the best!
Term: Spring 16- Accepted!

I applied through the AA-T Degree with a Guarantee, which is probably why I got accepted. I have these last 2 classes until I get my associates and then transfer in January!

Waitlist update:
"After a review of the transcripts you provided, we have verified your eligibility and I am pleased to inform you that your waitlist offer is confirmed! This is an important step as you could be offered admission should room in the Spring 2016 class become available.
If you decide to remain on our waitlist you can expect to hear a final admission decision by mid-December. If space becomes available, and you are offered admission, we will promptly notify you of your financial aid eligibility prior to requiring you to make a commitment to attending in the Spring. Please remember, however, that admission is not guaranteed so make sure to have a backup plan."

I also got in to Fullerton as well. I currently live in Redondo Beach but trying to decide where to attend! I know they both have good business schools but Long Beach being better overall. Fullerton’s business building and program are better so trying to figure out where to go. If anyone has any insight that would be great.

Admitted.
Transferring from CSU San Marcos
Has anyone sent in their official transcripts and received a confirmation of admission?
@CollegeCarol
Hey hey congrats on getting in! :))
I called them last Thursday I think whether they have gone through the transcripts. I’ve already sent in mine some time ago and they are working on it. So I think give it another week before they are done going through everyone’s
