The CSUN housing office tells me that living in the dorms we basically get to choose which dorm building, floor, and room we want to live in.
Does anybody have any advice as to which dorm building is the best (nicest, safest, most convenient, etc)?
Not talking about the Suites for Freshman but the on campus apartment for transfer students, etc.

Ah! Have you found anything out?? I’m in the same boat, transfer student and want to know about housing. I’ve filled out the app, I know we get to choose who we room with, but what about the buildings?

What I do know and is was stated by CSUN on their website is that we get to choose who we dorm with, if we want. If not they will place us in a room with whomever they decide.
As for choosing what building we get to live in I’m not so sure, but I was talking to some people whom have lived in the dormitories at CSUN, and from the looks of it, it seems like you can pick what building you want to reside in.
That being said I looked on the Sundial and it ranked the top 3 buildings.
1st Place: Building 11
2nd Place: Building 2
3rd Place: Building 3

Then a student told me that he would advise against building 13 because it seemed to have had the oldest furniture out of all the other dormitories, and that the wi-fi went out once in a while.

As for safety, it seems like safety at CSUN’s dorms are one of their top priorities and they even have a video uploaded on YouTube which goes into detail about their security and some of the features that are included into dorming at CSUN. Here is the video link

I am also in the same boat as both of you I am also a transfer student, and trying to get as much information about what building is best, most convenient, etc.

I hope that this helped.

@EAHerrera thanks for the info! I saw that vid a couple months ago, it seems like the campus is pretty safe and the dorms are nice. I’ll keep in mind about the buildings… Do you know when we’ll be able to pick which ones we want?

@smurray09 I have no idea when we get to choose which building we want to live in or who we want to be our roommates. I just know that they said that when it is allowed for you to pick, everyone should try and do it at the same time so no one else joins into your apartment.

@EAHerra ok thanks. I don’t think I’ll be picking anyone. I’m going to bite the bullet and let CSUN pick for me. Hopefully I get someone good to room with!

@smurray09 Best of luck.
