Hello, I recently got admitted into CSUSM as a CIS Major. I was wondering what is your guys/gals input on this school. From what I’ve heard it’s fairly new and mostly a commuter school. I live about 40 miles north of the school so not entirely sure if I want to relocate to the school or not. I kind of want to live on or near campus to get the maybe a better college experience?
Also does anyone have any info on CS/CIS as a major overall? Like how is the program and if I’ll make good connections with people. I did IT in the army for 4 years so I’m quite knowledgeable on the server/networking aspect. Currently am finishing my last golden 4 class, taking c++, and accounting at a community college. I’m just looking for an affordable and rewarding college experience. Thanks.
I have recently been admitted as well. Being a palomar student majoring in CS, I get to talk with lots of csusm cs students taking req classes at palomar due to avail. Or w.e. from what I have seen and heard is that csusm has one of the best cs programs that get you hired straight out of college. Teachers are solid and campus is smaller but still 304 acres and well kept and new. Places to eat within walking distance and tons to due in the area. Also, if you read csusm news then you will see it’s one of their fastest growing programs. The advantage to going to csusm is you have a great chance that your degree will appreciate over time. Their degrees will surely be more expensive over the next ten - 20 years as they cont. To make a name for themselves - a great investment imho.
